"Crook 4 Life" Caught Again

What a dummy.

A "Laundry Room Bandit" is on the loose -- you fit the description to a tee -- and are caught aimlessly wandering around the neighborhood with bags and bags of quarters in your pockets, a wrench and a crack pipe. What do you think was going to happen?
A man implicated in a string of laundry room burglaries is back in custody. Evanston police say 27-year-old Jose Clark Jr., was arrested Thursday by officers who spotted him near the Tasty Sub restaurant at 2001 W. Howard in Chicago. Source/Read more.
This guy just doesn't learn. I say send this mutt to prison and make him work laundry detail for a many, many years. (And we don't mean let him out in six months this time.)

Alderman Rainey, GOOD NEWS!

Jose Clark M/B 07/18/81 was apprehended on an investigative stop by P.O. Cherrey and P.O. Arzuaga working in civilian clothes at Howard St. and Damen Ave. near the Tasty Sub. Clark had in his possession 8 bags of quarters, misc. other coins along with hex wrench and a “crack” pipe. Clark was charged with poss. of drug paraphernalia under a separate case number and held for the detectives reference the wanted investigative alert under case number 07-42514. 24th District was notified of his arrest due to the amount of coins recovered from his person indicates that a recent coin machine theft/burglary may have occurred.

Thanks Rich Eddington

I wonder how the hell this guys' application for an apartment ever gets approved after he lists his occupation as a "coin-operated laundry room" burglar.

Craig Gernhardt said...

Landlord: "How'd you like to pay your first months rent and security deposit?"

Mr. Clark: "In quarters."

Craig Gernhardt said...

Mr. Clark to the Judge: "Your honor. The crack made me do it."

I got one better. Put this guy inside a dryer, fill the shot with quarters, and let him roll around inside for several days.

Sounds like the police could apprehend a lot of criminals simply by doing 24/7 stakeouts on the Tasty Sub and other select business around the nabe that are notorious for their clientele.

also in today's news- some good news.
the grand opening of rogers park's new fire house was today. it is a beautiful facility, and the neighborhood really turned out to share the occasion. i took the tour, and man, do i envy them that kitchen. and i have a pretty good kitchen.
and the building is silver leed's certified.
congratulation to joe. this kind of a project takes many people working hard to accomplish. i would hope that joe's critics could give up some props when something good gets done.

Craig - good laughs!! These jerks need to be in the jail doing laundry detail for years.
What was Joe's role in the new firehouse, besides taking credit?

floss said...

Good news indeed about the new fire house. I was worried that our ward was being denied such treats as Mayor Daley has little respect for Alderman Moore.

mcl said...

The Alderman had NO role in getting the new Rogers Park firehouse built. This was part of a city wide 'up-grade' based on various criteria established by the City, the Fire Department and the Department of Planning and Development. In fact, the ONLY 'contribution' Joe made was to delay it getting built because of his interference in stopping it being constructed on the site of the Mega Mall property, the original site choice of the city, Fire Department and Department of Planning.

RP Free Speech said...

OT, because I couldn't get to the opening of the fire house today...I was wondering how the Mayor "enjoyed" his drive on the unplowed, unsalted streets?

Any take any photos?

As for "laundry boy", may he pretend to be a dryer and EAT a bag or two of quarters! Then, maybe, just sit amd spin for a LONG while at 26th and California!

Something needs to be done with the Mega Mall. It was never nothing more than a bunch of greedy store owners who live in the suburbs opening up shop in the Rogers Park neighborhood with the sole purpose of selling their junk at high prices to a certain group of people who had no understanding of what their legal rights as consumers were. They would NEVER open such a business in their own neighborhoods. They could give a hoot about the Rogers Park community. They only come to the Rogers Park community to peddle their crap and bring the community down. I personally had rather see a large hole in the ground with a green tarp around it.

Oh, really? Well, you asked. Click here.

sandy said...

Craig, you're right, I was wrong about the green tarp. I was just trying to give the full implementation of how bad I think the Mega Mall was and still is to the community. I live by Touhy Park and I was witness the day to day crime surrounding the operation of the Mega Mall like you are now witnessing with the day to day operations on Morse. Forgive me for the comment about the green tarp, God knows I would rather see businesses like the Morse Theather and the Common Cup in the Mega Mall, but I am afraid that will never happen as long as Joe has pockets.

mcl said...

Sandy, You're absolutely right about the Mega Mall and the 'merchants' who occupied it. However, if you remember, Joe insisted that the Mega Mall was an important neighborhood asset (small business incubator!) and the City finally went to plan B and bought the 3-4 year old 'Supermercado' property for the new Fire House site. Of course the 'Supermercado' was a thriving Hispanic market, truly serving the community. That's our 'progressive' Alderman at work!! What a joke.

first, i think you are wrong about the denizens of the mega mall while it was alive. i remember well the community outcry that caused the firestation to not be built there. people thought it was a valuable incubator for small businesses. i rarely shopped there, myself, but...
but second, it is well on its way to being the new home of the chicago math and science academy. (a relatively new school in rogers park, another thing joe will never get credit for.)

mcl said...

The only outcry was from the Mega Mall suburban shop keepers who didn't want to lose their situation. They were not local residents. The Mega Mall operation and it's merchants, who as Sandy correctly points out, were suburban opportunists, many/most selling illegal knockoff merchandise. Within a couple of months of the 'Supermercado' site being bought by the City for the new Firehouse, the Mega Mall was emptied and placed on the R. E. market by the property owner. If "people thought" it was such a asset, where was the community outcry at this? It was soon under contract to a developer who was planning a high-rise condo development. That fell thru, early on, due to economic conditions, otherwise we'd have another hole in the ground.

According to DevCorpNorth:

http://www.rogers-park.com/2008/11/relocation-of-c.html

Relocation of CMSA proposal
Community Meeting on Proposed Relocation of Chicago Math & Science Academy to Clark Mall Site
A community meeting to review a proposal for a new home for the Chicago Math and Science Academy (CMSA) will be held on Wednesday, November 19th, 7:00 p.m. at the Touhy Park Fieldhouse, 7348 N. Paulina (across from the old Clark Mall site and the new firestation).
CMSA is currently located at Morse and Paulina in the old St. Jerome's School. They have outgrown their current location and have been actively looking for a new Rogers Park home.
CMSA has entered into a contract to purchase the old Clark Mall site at 7212 N. Clark Street.

They propose to retrofit the existing building, which has been vacant for several years, into a new school for grades 6-12. In order to do so they will need to "change the zoning" from its current C2-2 designation to RT-4.

Mr. Salim Ucan, principal of CMSA, and CMSA's attorneys and architects will present site plans and renderings of the proposed school. I urge you to attend the meeting to provide your opinions of the proposal.

If you are unable to attend, contact the Alderman's office at (773) 338-5796 with your thoughts and suggestions.

Soooo, you know it's a "sure thing" as long as CMSA contributes to Citizens for Joe Moore, which they have not done, according to his latest D-2 "Pre-election" Report, which ended 10/05/2008. More to come on this.

Obviously, this was not highly publicized, but an e-mail POOF was sent out on November 14, 2008.

Chicago Science and Math Academy desperately needs more room!

I hate walking that stretch at night.

Are you providing the thought process for your whole flock of sheep?

New firehouses are being built all over the city and what do they have in common? It isn't the hard work of the alderman in the ward where they are built.

All the firehouses are replacing 100 year old firehouses. These old firehouses were built before city hall. They had horses living there and are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Many of them had their floors practically caving in from the 100,000 lb apparatus stationed there.

These firehouses are a basic capital improvements needed in any city of this size and age. Does the mayor or the aldermen deserve kudos for basic and necessary capital improvements? I would say yes if there wasn't waste and corruption behind them.

grammer girl,
i asked about the school at the open house, and was told that it is proceeding. i asked if it was a done deal, and was told- pretty much.

and isaac,
yes, the people ought to expect effective government, but i think if you look around you will see that it is a rare thing, indeed. there are cities all over where such things are not being done, and there have been many periods in chicago's history where they have not been done.
it is not easy. i repeat, it is not easy. it takes a lot of hard work by all affected. folks are ready to jump on joe because they think the fire station was built in the wrong place, yet when it is time to congratulate people on a job well done, it is all the mayor going about his business. wtf? you can't have it both ways.

and to all regarding the mercado that was there- first of all- there was a neighborhood meeting about siting, and the clark mall was rejected by the folks at the meeting. not joe. that was a long time ago now, and the place was not the seedy dive that it ended up being. people wanted to keep it.
secondly- the property where it was built was already in the early stages of acquisition when that property was sold. although that was unethical of the seller, it was legal. the buyers were told that they should take the city's deal and move on. but they wanted their day in court, and they got it. again, joe was pummeled for the hold up on the project, joe was blamed for the mercado that never should have opened up there, but still joe gets no credit for the job getting done?

so, blame for all things bad, no matter how much control, yes. credit for good things that happen, expected, so, no.
check.

been there,
You are full of it!! The people who objected to the Mega Mall as the site for the new Firehouse were the 'suburban' merchant tenants, who were actually organized by the owner of the Mega Mall to oppose the property being bought by the City at 'fair' market value and demolished. There was NO, I repeat NO, local resident opposition to speak of, regarding the building of the Firehouse on that site. I spoke to the property owners 'agent' several times during the whole ordeal. You simply don't know what you're talking about when it comes to the facts! End of story!!!

been there,

The Mega Mall was always a Seedy Dive run by Seedy merchants. From day one, my neighbors and I would spend endless hours on the phone calling the city and the Animal Crulity Society because the so called law abiding merchants would let their Pit Bull Guard Dogs run loose inside the building at night when their store was closed and then lock them out on "TOP OF THE ROOF" in the 90 degrees heat during the day when their store was open. I had relatives visiting from out of town and they were appaled at such horrific actions that they were witness to by the Seedy merchants of the Mega Mall. The merchants and their Mega Mall were nothing but garbage, garbage, garbage, from day one. This is only one of the horrific stories that could be told about the operation of the Mega Mall. There are many more.

The man is dangerous.

tea party said: "And Joe "Foie Gras" Moore would have us believe that he is a protector of animals."

For those who don't know, Joe's 'interest/concern' for animals, was bought and paid for by PEAT activist, Jena Krohl, to the tune of $42,000.00. That's what she paid him to introduce the city ordinance banning foie gras. Of course, like Gov. Blago, Joe doesn't call that 'pay to play', he calls it a campaign 'donation'!

mcl said...

Sorry, that's PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

MCL,

I wonder if John Nichols of The Nation knows that the "grassroots" "progressive" Joe Moore was paid off by PETA.

mcl said...

I'm sure he does not. John Nichols, obviously, knows very, very little about the real Mr. Moore and his record.
