All elected officials are voted into office to SERVE THE PEOPLE, not themselves!
As we have recently seen, many Chicago politicians have been "stashing away" the CAMPAIGN FUNDS for their own interests while their wards become a series of "holes in the ground".
In conjunction with RECALL, TERM LIMITS must also be imposed. Anyone else agree?
There needs to be a accountability for elected officials.
Like the gangs of Chicago, If they know they can get away with it without being caught and punished, they will do whatever puts the most money in their pockets.
If those elected had severe punishments for Pay to Play and other illegal activities, and, knew they they would be caught...
This would greatly reduce corruption on the City, State and Federal levels.

Joe Moore is right on this one. The only thing keeping Joe Moore in line around here is the blogs.
They thought they were going to buy a car, or in one case, sell a Gucci duffle bag.
But when the potential customers went to check out the goods they eyed on Craigslist, they were greeted with a gun.
James Thomas, 20, and and another male lured 10 victims to mostly South Side locations pretending to sell the items they listed on the online site and robbed them at gunpoint in six attacks between Nov. 25 and Jan. 27, prosecutors said.
In one incident, Thomas, of the 600 block of East Oakwood Boulevard, punched a woman in the face when she refused to hand over her purse, according to Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Erin Antonietti.
Thomas and his accomplice, who has not been caught, allegedly ordered another victim to lie down after agreeing to show him a car in the 1300 block of West Greenleaf Avenue. While the man was on the ground in the Dec. 6 incident, Thomas punched him in the back of the head and took his cash and cell phone, Antonietti said.
On Jan. 9, one victim met the pair in hopes of selling a Gucci bag in the 700 block of East Oakwood Boulevard. Instead, Thomas and the other suspect took the man’s jacket, watch and bag, Antonietti said.
That victim did his own research and later spotted Thomas on his MySpace page wearing his stolen jacket and posing with the gun he used in the attack, Antonietti said.
Judge Israel Desierto ordered Thomas, charged with armed robbery and attempted armed robbery, held without bond.
Idiots keep re-electing these fools...how would a recall help?
Shorter terms and the implication of term limits would be a more efficient way to keep politicians in line. However, corruption will continue as long as we allow two political parties to control this nation and as long as the majority of the voters show up at the polls completely uniformed about the candidates.
How about this; 1. Term limits. 2, maybe 3 terms max. 2. A recall provision. 3. If charged with a crime, suspension of all pay and benefits other than healtcare. 4. If convicted, a revocation of any and all future benefits, and a complete repayment of all previous pay and benefits. 5. All pay/benefit increases to be put to a referendum vote. 6. A complete reworking of the current pay/benefit schedule for all public employees. The goals to get public sector pay scales back in line with current realities, to eliminate pension shenanigans where people work the system to artificially increase their pensions payouts based on BS promotions and other pension increasing games in the last two years before retirement.
Public service should be an honor to serve, not a lifetime job security pact with self voted pay increases, gold plated health care, lifetime pensions with 4% COL increases in perpetuity! These "benefits" no longer exist in the private sector, and they DO NOT belong in the public sector at all!
No matter how many of these fools get arrested, charged, and convicted, they continue to abuse the "people". The penalty for breaking the law must be so severe that no matter what, our public officials, will not do it. Break the law, go to jail, forfeit all future benefits, and have a massive government lien placed on ones assets and future earnings. Even a bankruptcy will not wipe away a Government lien.

Yes!!! Also, strict campaign contribution limits on all types of contributions from all sources.
Eliminating TIF is a major issue with me. That means repealing the 1952 legislation that created TIF, and enacting legislation that specifically prohibits diversion of public funds to private businesses, by any state or municipal taxing authority.
What started as a little bit of help here and there has snowballed into what some have called The Mother of all Bailouts, which wouldn't be necessary if our government authorities hadn't helped underwrite the credit bubble of the early 21st Century with their "help" for the housing and credit markets.
Time to start restoring government to its proper place, which is keeping the sidewalks clean, the water running, the roads and sewers repaired, and to keep criminals of all sorts from preying on the innocent. Our authorities haven't done a good job of all this for the past 50 years, while they've been mucking about in the private sector and fouling it up, too.
anarchists. you people are anarchists. why do you have a problem with participating in democracy, and accepting the outcome? you should form your own party. i hear the name know nothings is again available.
Hey been there, since you don't even know the meaning of "anarchists" maybe you should be the leader of the local Know Nothings group. You know nothing of intelligence, artistic talent, or proper trolling. And you still look like a dude...
anarchy is a profound failure of government at every level.
anarchy is unregulated bankers crashing the world's economy.
anarchy is katrina.
anarchy is springfield 9 billion in the red while blago laughs with letterman.
anarchy is a child plunging a knife into another child, a stones throw from the alderman's office.
we don't ask for more anarchy. we ask for a few adjustments to make democracy work again for the good of the whole....not just for the few who are connected, blissfully sucking at the teat of the taxpayer.
