Commander David Sobczyk adds...> "There were 16 subjects arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. 9 of the subjects were male juveniles and their cases are not addressed in an adult court hearing. Of the remaining subjects, there were 6 male adults and 1 female adult.
Their respective court case will be heard in Branch 29 on 03 JUN. No students reported injuries. One officer received a minor hand injury which did not require medical treatment."

Chicago Tribune Breaking News:16 arrested in Rogers Park school fight
Sixteen Sullivan High School students were arrested this morning after a fight broke out in the Rogers Park neighborhood school, officials said.
The brawl broke out around 11:45 a.m. at the school, 6631 N. Bosworth Ave., officials said, but no injuries were reported.
Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond said the students were charged with reckless conduct.
The reason for the fight was unclear, but some of the students who were arrested were apparently trying to break up the brawl, according to Bond. She said the fight may have started because a recently suspended student returned and "started trouble."
Some of the students had been released to their parents' custody by the time school was out, a police lieutenant said.
Rogers Park District police regularly have officers in the area around the school at dismissal time because of gang fights in the immediate vicinity.

A gang fight this morning at Sullivan High School resulted in 16 arrests, but no one was seriously hurt, police said.
One officer responding to a call at the Chicago public school at 6631 N. Bosworth suffered a hand injury, but it was described as minor.
The fight — which prompted a large response from the Rogers Park police district — started inside the school. As officers responded to break it up, students took off running throughout the school, police said.
Everyone involved was believed to be in custody, and no weapons were believed to have been used, police said.
Extra patrols will be sent to the school at dismissal
Think this will finally get some citywide attention focused on what's going on up here?
I'm doing just fine, Chicago (thanks for asking *smiley face*), but people I know are shaken up or pissed off about this. I find this to be completey BS, though.
No injures? From what I heard, there was an injury. I heard one kid had their face blooded during the brawl.
This brawl, I believe, is gang related. What else would be over?
I heard one of my friends was hauled off to jail for trying to break up the fight. Why are the cops arresting people for trying to actually help out? If I helped to break it up, would I have been placed under arrest? I feel that a student arrested for breaking up a fight is uncalled for.
I do agree with Bond that the fight may have been because of a suspension. There was a fight yesterday (only two people involved though) and one kid was suspended, but yet, I saw him at lunch today. I thought he was suspended.
Chicago, what time did CBS2 air the fight news coverage? I just got through watching the 6pm newscast and there was nothing about it.

As I said, it seemed to me that the altercation was a pretty big deal due to all the coverage.

They need to throw the troublemakers out of the school, so the rest of the kids can focus and try to get an education. I can't imagine that kind of craziness in a high school.
Scott, this is an everyday occurence at almost ALL public high schools. It IS a citywide problem , not just a Sullivan problem. As I've said before, this is a HUGE problem citywide and we DO NOT have the manpower to handle it.
Timmy, who knows why your friend was arrested if he in fact was arrested. Perhaps he failed to disperse when told to do so by the Police, perhaps in his efforts to breakup the fight he was actually involved in the fight, perhaps he lied to you and was a willing participant, perhaps his actions actually escalted the situation as opposed to de-escalting it. Who knows.
Craig, in your post you refer to Monique Bond as spokesman for the Chicago Public Schools. Please, please tell me that this is true, that she doesn't work for the CPD anymore. If it is true, proof positive that there is a God after all.
Oh ok. Sorry. Thought it was aired on TV when I read CBS2. One of my teachers reported seeing the news on the bottom crawl of CLTV on TV this morning.
I'm sure many of the teachers here wish they could, Razldazlrr, but I heard they can't because of the laws. I really wish we could get them out of here. I'm really getting sick and tired of them now. They're starting to piss me off (LOL).
Today, they're making hard to focus. They're talking so much about the fight that everyone's on edge. They're also talking about a possiblty of ANOTHER fight to come today. Yes, ANOTHER one. Be fornwarned, everyone.
Big Daddy, all I know that he was arrested for a time but he was let go because like I said, he wasn't actually participing in the fight (at least from what I know). He was trying to break it up before someone was seriously hurt. If I were there, I would've broken it up too.
Also, I witnessed the first minute of the fight. My friend, who doesn't like these things happening in school, told me that he tried to break up the argument and then it turned into a fist fight. Most kids were running towards the fight and wanting to get a punch, but I actually saw a few kids running away from it and warning security.
But then again, Big Daddy, all of that you've said can be true.
