Party Crasher Ejected

Word from a good source tells me Joe Moore tried crashing the IVI-IPO fund-raiser over the weekend. Not having a ticket, Moore came to the event and made a spectacle of himself. After the host had politely asked Joe to leave, motormouth Moore dropped a couple of F-Bombs on the crowd before he was escorted out of the event.

Classy, Joe. Real classy.

Love Joe's "pay-to-play" accusation. He should know!

I was at the IVI-IPO dinner last night and, yes, Alderman Moore tried to crash the reception and he did indeed let loose the f-bombs when denied. But there is something noteworthy about this episode that isn't obvious. The private reception was a smallish affair and a handful of the attendees were long-time IVI-IPO members who, not blessed with wealth, really had to scrape to put together $200 to attend the reception.

They did it because they wanted to support IVI-IPO and, yes, have some time with the Governor, a man they admire.

That Alderman Moore would suggest that pay-to-play applied to this little event with these little people---at least that's how he treats us; he bothers with us only when he needs our endorsement for himself or his friends---is nothing short of reprehensible.

Pay-to-play, at least in the Chicago tradition, requires a few more zeros and some sort of quid pro quo. Is Moore so daft as to think that raising funds for a shoestring organization, and a handshake and a photo with Pat Quinn meets that standard?

How come Joe was crashing this party instead of supporting the Willye B. White Park Advisory Council's fundraiser in Rogers Park?

I would consider this local event to raise funds so that children in Rogers Park can afford to go to Summer Camp the priority.

It always seems his first priority is an issue where he can gain media attention, especially television cameras.
Personally, I would much rather have seen money to to kids and summer camp, than a few people having free parking spots.

I would like to have seen part of the money go to the children's programs, but the larger part of it go to making urgent repairs on the streets and sewers around here.

We have constant street flooding on Pratt, and at the corner of Columbia & Sheridan during heavy rains.

The streets are so pocked with potholes that there is a real danger of a car axle being broken, or an accident resulting from a panicked driver swerving suddenly to avoid severe damage to his car.

There are about a dozen more urgent needs, and/or projects more beneficial to all the residents of RP, then providing free parking.
