Shots Fired on Ashland

7:05 PM: We're getting multiple reports of shots fired around Ashland and North Shore. 5 to 6 shots. Witnesses say a male black was seen with the gun. Possible P-Stone gang related.

P-Stone? I'm starting to wonder who came up with that name. I also wonder what gang they're related to so I know when I return to Sullivan.

I wish there could be an island that we could just put all the gangs on. They can each claim and tag a corner then when they want to fight they can just shot and fight each other. Everyone is happy, no ruining others peoples property with their rediculous spray paint and marker chicken scratch. No one being shot for walking down the street or scared when taking their dog out and a group of men comes walking up.... If only... I could dream right?

Scanner activity had shots fired on Morse Avenue last night.

Reside on Morse had to call 911 for heavy gang activity in front of 1340 West Morse.

But then, no one really cares. Right?

I think a lot of people care - I'm just not sure it's the people that can actually do anything about it. Do we have any word on who our new police in charge person will be up here?
Mindi - I agree - stick em all in Soldier Field and let them shoot it out

Jeff Fort came up with the name. It was originally the Blackstone Rangers, then it became The almighty black p(prince) Stone nation. Then El Rukin. I just saw a documentary on the gang.

We got into a car accident because of those shots. The car must have heard them when he failed to stop on Wallen Ave...

I saw some police activity on Morse yesterday at 4:15. The cop car honked twice at a car in front of him uder the Morse station. Then the cop yelled out of his window, "Hey, you should put the phone down!"

Cornbread, I hope you're alright. I heard EMS was called to the scene for a neck injury.

The accident was thought to have been part of the shooting. But they later discounted that theory.

This is why when you walk to the Morse El you don't actually take Morse.

I say, "REINSTATE" the draft, throw them all in the service, give them guns and send them all to Iraq. Let them see and experience what "REAL WAR" is all about. They want to shoot somebody, well let them face the real enemy and see how bad they really are. They would all poop in their pants and go crying to mommie. I'm a real believer in the motto "One strike, Two strike Three strike Iraq.

All was well from the accident, however the other driver had no license and no insurance so my buddy has to eat his deductible. As far as the shots fired, two landed in a hatchback car and one into the window of a condo owner. The neighbors and I all bought some brews and talked about it. On another (but same) subject...give it a year or two and Rogers Park will be a little better because of this housing crisis. People (like me) will buy property and not turn it over for a profit, but will live in it and thrive in it and not stand for this sh#t that happens around this community. Coming from a small community myself I need to find an outlet to correct the situation and not let this crap continue.

I'm with you, cornbread. After the incident on Pratt last night... well, let's just say no one should have to dive to the floor in their own place just because a bunch of punks want to congregate on the corner and then someone decides to start shooting. So short of matching "fire with fire", what can be done. Personally, I'm trying to inundate the cops with 911 texts whenever I see a situation that possibly could escalate into trouble for someone, most likely an innocent person. People may complain that the cops harassed the "kids" who are just hanging out, but better to inconvenience one of them for a few minutes of being frisked by a cop than to ignore it and let it grow into a situation where someone is shot. START CALLING 911! START SENDING MESSAGES TO TXT2TIP. If you swamp them with calls, someone (maybe an alderman?) might get the hint that there is big trouble. Imagine if the papers suddenly notice that there is a HUGE surge in 911 calls in RP...

Sandy, why do you think it's OK to burden real soldiers with these knuckleheads? How about putting them in jail and keeping them there until they get this violence stuff out of their system? Real soldiers don't want them on the battlefield anymore than you want them in RP.The military is not a dumping ground for social misfits.

Man on the Street- you can text us all you want but if we don't have the manpower, we can't respond. Once again, we are at dangerously low staffing levels. Daley and Weis have allowed this. And don't buy into the nonsense they are coming up with about hiring an additional 150 coppers or taking 200-300 off inside assignments and putting them on the streets. All smoke and mirrors. I'm expecting the worst this summer.

AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter said...

Big Daddy, I also don't believe that there will be another 150 officers hired. I don't even really believe the 200-300 officers being put on the streets. I'm also excepting the worst, which is why I'm staying in my house as much as I can.

Also, Big Daddy, if you don't mind me asking, what district do you work out of? Just wondering :-).

I used to work in 025. Now I'm somwehere else which I would rather not talk about. I hope to return there someday. I loved every minute I was there. We averaged 15k-20k calls for service every month which translates into a very busy day which translates into a day that goes by quickly.

AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter said...

I really do hope you return to 25 one day. We need cops like you. It's gotten too crazy over here (I'm on the extreme northeast end of 25). Most of our cops care about what happens around here and try to find ways to stop the violence, but there are a few cops who are real big jerks who only think about theirselves, make comments about almost EVERY job (I know, there are some calls not worth 911's time, but they even say things about Batteries, Assaults, etc.) they get, and so on. It'd be nice if they were sent somewhere else and you got to come back here.

I read your comments alot and you seem like a nice person. Yet, you don't take no bull off the criminals, which is exactly what we need.

Thanks Timmy. I grew up in what was then 014 which later became beat 2522. I was married about 150 years ago, just kiddin, about 37 years ago at St. Hyacinth. My children went there, the funeral services for one of my children was there and I buried all my in-laws from that church as well. So you can see that I have a real interest in 025. As far as guys beefin about jobs, remember, we have whiners in every occupation. I know who they are and you are referring to and what they say. I try to stay away from them and instead associate with the workers. It might interst you to know that of all the places I've worked, I believe that some of the best coppers this city has work in 025. They do have their 10% but they also have some excellent coppers. I didn't work the area in which you live that much. I preferred to work the south end, in the 30 sector. There was and is much more violence there and your chances of arresting a real bad guy are greater than anywhere else in the district IMHO. You sound like a nice guy. In my line of work we don't often get to deal with the good kid's. You are a breath of fresh air and help remind me that there are good young men attending our high schools.Stay safe.

Wow. I live just one street west of St. Hyacinth. I see you know the area well. I agree with you that there are whiners in every occupation.

As for knowing who the whiners are, could you do me a favor and whack 'em across the head ;-)? Just kidding.

I also believe your statement about 25 having some of the best cops. Just about every time a bad person runs, the cops chase them down and get them in cuffs, and within 30 seconds to a minute. That's amazing if you ask me.

The 30 sector is very interesting if you ask me. There are more calls in that sector, especially on 2531 and 2532's beats, then maybe the 10 sector of nearby 14th district. Everyday, I hear so many calls that it's not funny in 25's 30 sector.

I got two more questions for you, since you know more about this more than me: how far west did the 14/25 border go before it was pushed to Central Park? And when did the border thing happen?

Thanks for your comment. I hope you stay safe as well.

Big Daddy said...

IIRC, 014 used to go west to Cicero, south to North Ave. In 1981 025 became operational and took parts of 014 ( Central Pk and all west of that)and 015.
The area that you live in is probably the quietest part of the district. Prior to this economic downturn I had thought that it would be Lincoln Park West in about five years. It will be but maybe closer to ten years.

AvondaleLoganSquareCrimeBlotter said...

I had thought the border thing happened in the 2000s, because some cop (probably a newbie) told me it went to Pulaski and he claimed they cut it back in 2002. Though, I believe you because you've been a cop for 30 or so years.

It's quiet, but I don't think we'll become Lincoln Park West because it tends to get somewhat active around here, mostly in the summer. I think maybe 17 will because it's way quieter up there.
