Car Rams Tree on Sheridan Road

What happens when a car is traveling too fast down Estes - and the driver can't make the turn onto Sheridan Road in time?

I just hope the fool driver got rescued from the conflagration in time.

Sounds like he was drinking. Had to be slightly behind it to miss that turn .

Witness tells me the 20'ish kid was fine.

Witness says the kid wasn't drunk.

Witness says the kid says he "borrowed the car" from the shop. Car had dealer plates.

Witness says the kid could've run.

Witness was a bit buzzed.

Neighbors are now noticing the crash.

At 8:05 AM, anonymous neighbor calls 911 to report a crash at Estes and Sheridan. Says a car is on the sidewalk.

Nearly 2 hours after the fact. Police run plates to car and question if it's been reported to fire yet?

As of 8:14 AM, no tow has been ordered.

Hey Craig,

why no mention of the Glenwood Arts Festival? Seems to be a hard neighborhood newsworthy event to ignor---especially amongst all the negative news items we read and deal with. Music, Art and Food on a beautiful weekend right here in Rogers Park---woo hoo!!

I forget.... a kid in his early twenties or teens doesn't have to be drunk or high to act like he is. People that age do stuff cold-sober that any older person would have to be in the bag to do.

Kid probably FLEW down Estes trying to make it through a yellow light, or something .

Damn! I live here too stole my joke. Seriously though, hope the driver and the tree were ok.

Thank you dear lord that the young man is safe. It must have been a terrible ordeal for him if the car burst into flames while he was still in it. I certainly hope and pray that he has no long lasting mental stress due to this most unfortunate accident.

He must have been flying down Estes, glad I wasn't trying to cross the street at the time. Have you noticed people are driving down Sheridan now like it's a racetrack?
