Around 6:38 PM tonight multiple 911 calls came through the system for "
shots fired" at 1528 West Jonquil and Ashland & Jonquil. Callers say 3 shots were fired. When police arrive they call for EMS, as a male black was bleeding for some unknown reason. This alleged shooting happened right under a Chicago Police Department Blue Light Camera.

Police are requesting an ambulance to Pottawatomie Park, 7340 N Rogers Ave. Seems a teen got jumped and beaten up by multiple teens, who fled towards Winchester.
Another shooting? Jeez! What's it coming to up there in RP?
More like when is it going to change, seems like the same stuff I'd hear when I was in grade school.......in the 80's. I've been away from Rogers park/west rogers park since I graduated HS, and just moved back about 2 yrs ago after living in Las Vegas for 6 yrs. I thought the So-Cal gang activity was getting bad in Vegas only to move back home and see that things are still the same in good ole RP. I've seen some great changes in Wrigleyville and some parts of Lincoln Park. Even Wicker Park is a nice trendy neighborhood. When I was still in the CPS system no one would be out in the evening around Wrigley Field or Wicker Park. Even the Belmont Red Line area is quite trendy. What happened to the Morse Red Line area. Still the same crap hole I used to wait for the bus/train in the mid 90's. Need an alderman there who cares, although I grew up in the 50th the 49th ward are my neighbors and friends.
Wicker Park may be a trendy neighborhood but it's not a nice one.
The Logan Square-Wicker Park area is having a terrible time with gang activity and a big upsurge in shootings and related violence just now.
But our problems are only getting worse. The Clark-Howard area is as bad as I've ever seen it. The new development hasn't seemed to have made a difference.
The North Coast, I couldn't agree with you more about Logan Square suffering a horrible gang problem.
Even though I live about 200-400 feet out of Logan Square (I'm just north of Diversey, so that's Avondale). I've been here all of my life and things were a little bad starting a few years ago. Things were getting a little better in 2006/2007, but the summer of '08 really screwed up any hope of that it'd get better. Now it's only getting worse. It's exactly why I blog, so people can see what's going on and at least try to change it.
Even though it may get a little hard to believe, at times I think it's getting worse than RP, especially on my end of the neighborhood.
Did we ever get a new police supervisor up here? (not sure of the right title) Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had an Alderman that truly cared about cleaning up the neighborhood (of both trash and creeps) instead of just going on crime walks, etc that bring him publicity??!!
Raz, the title would be "Commander".
No new permanent Commander for the 24th yet. In the meantime, Captain Robert Whalen is the Acting Commander.
