Fellow Rogers Park neighbors. This event is too expensive for those of us who are disadvantaged and down-trodden. It doesn't seem fair to charge such a high price to get in. As ususal, the rich have all the advantages. Perhaps they could offer free admission to the poor. I would love to take my 4 dog-children to this event if I could afford the admission. .
I thought it was cheap at $25 per ticket. The portions were generous too. I am not rich either. But a kids ticket is a good idea and I will mention it to the folks at EDC for next spring when they do their Bryn Mawr crawl.
This was cheap for a fundraiser ticket. The restaurants participate in order to gain exposure to diners and the neighborhood benefits. EDC raises money to fund development.
The food crawl last night was fun, and I still feel full from last night. I have to say that Ropa had the best presentation.
My only question, why was it advertised as the RogersEdge Dinner Crawl to some, and the Edgewater Dinner Crawl to others? The ticket I had (RogersEdge) didn't show as many restaurants listed as the Edgewater version. Edgewater was definitely showing more involvement with the fest, with live music and balloons up and down Broadway.
The reason why there were TWO dinner crawls? That's because after Edgewater and Rogers Park's Development Corps (EDC/DevCorp North), Loyola, and the Edgegwater Chamber decided to havea joint dinner crawl, DevCorp North wanted to limit restaurant participation to a total of 12 and EDC was admamant that all restaurants in area could participate if they wanted the exposure (to new customers in the neighborhood). Which is considerable at this type of event.
In any event, by the time they came to an inpasse EDC had printed its materials and Loyola had no other day they could do this event.
I would have gone to BOTH crawls had they been at different times. Loyola is a REAL asset here in North Edgewater and EDC gives us our only development help. I think that the Rogers Park group was a little more at fault in trying to limit the event (for what reason-all the Edgewater people would have been trying new places in Rogers Park and vice versa). And EDC has blame for not finding a way to move their event to another day.
We have limited resources in Edgewater as it is. I would presume Rogers Park has the same issue. Lets work together next time.
For some reason DevCorp North/Loyola "Rogers Edge" wanted to limit the number of restaurants to 12 in each Rogers Park and Edgewater. I could guess that was because there are more restaurants in Edgewater but that's only a guess. The Rogers/Edge ticket had fewer restaurants than the Edgewater Development Corporation but the best restaurants in Edgewater were on your ticket.
Wait, there were two events? I guess I went to the RogersEdge one. Does anyone have a link to the restaurants participating in Edgewater? I'm curious what I missed out on.
North Edgewater seems to be as good a term as any to describe the area just south of sheridan/devon doesn't it? Unless I was a real estate agent, I certainly wouldn't call this area Andersonville either...

Yes, there were two events. I promoted the Edgewater event because they took out an ad in my magazine.
