Brawl At Sullivan Today

Apparently, a brawl broke out wtihin the walls of Sullivan today. At about 12:55pm this afternoon to be exact, during the 6th/7th period change. I didn't see the actual fight, but what I witnessed when I was coming from the 3rd floor was a kid running out of the disciplinarian office with two cops in pursuit (well, sort of, because they weren't running) of him. I then saw a few teachers heading towards the main office in a hurry. Right after that, I then witness droves of kids running up to the 2nd floor where the fight occurred. I guess they wanted to take a look. I finished up what I was doing at my locker and hurried into the classroom in case all hell broke loose.

During the period, I heard lots of hollering down the hall for the first 15 minutes, then it got quite as usual. When I came back out into the hallway, when 8th period was starting, I saw the two police officers I had seen earlier in pursuit questioning another kid.

This is a little surprising, considering that this would be one of the first brawls this year. I have not heard of any arrests or injures, but considering all of the kids involved, I'm sure they were arrests made. Anyway, I'm just hoping that all parties involved got arrested or suspended, and that school is peaceful tomorrow.

Update, 10/29/09: Today was the All School Seminar as well as "Principal For A Day". I was involved with the latter, being assigned to interview/escort one of the guest principals by the Journalism teacher (I'm sure all of you at Sullivan know who I'm talking about) for the school newspaper. Escorting and interviewing the guest (there was three) was pretty fun. I got alot of weird looks by friends who I normally don't have classes with (the scheduling had us assigned to teachers which I never had before). I was missed in the Autism department (not sure if I was missed in my two other regular classes). While I was up on the 2nd floor almost all day, the kids in the Autism room were outside of the school, gardening for Spring. So all in all, today was a pretty good day. But now I'm tired and ready to rest. Tomorrow, we in the Autism class are having a party for Halloween (I'm not dressing up in a costume or anything since I don't celebrate Halloween for alot of reasons, some of which are personal) in the afternoon.

Update, 10/30/09: I witnessed yet another mini riot today. When I was sitting in 6th period class, before the bell rung, a large group of kids were running down the hallway, yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs. I guess a fight broke out because then I saw several staff members running behind them. I also saw staff members trying to hold a couple of kids back from the fight. Others were running past the staff members. Anyway, we had the party today. It was very nice. We made pumpkins, danced and whole tons of other stuff.

Thanks, Timmie! Since I have a relative teaching at Sullivan, I enjoy hearing what you experience there.
