Young women and college co-ed's have made up rape/kidnapping stories to cover up a regreted, consensual sexual encounter in the past. It sort of "happens all the time".
Joe - he always likes something ridiculous to be put in the press. I think he should suggest that Chicago cut the number of Alderman in half and use that money saved for improvements!
To Raz and everyone else here: Somebody at Second City Cop HAS started a petition drive for a referendum that calls for the reduction of our number of aldermen from 50 to 25. This would save the city anywhere from $10 million to $50 million a year, depending on how costs are computed.
We only have until Nov 14 to gather signatures. Go to the Second City Cop Blog or my blog and get the petition form. Print one up and dupe it a few times.
It must be signed by City of Chicago residents who are registered to vote and you, the petitioner, must have the signatures notarized. SCC has posted the address to which the completed and signed and notarized petitions must be mailed. Do not number the pages- they will all be numbered and bound at the collection point.
Do not, whatever you do, sign the petition yourself and have it notarized until AFTER you have gathered all the signatures- it is illegal to guarantee your signatures before they exist.
We need 121,400 signatures by Nov 14, and really need twice that as they will be challenged.
Los Angeles has 3.8 million people and makes do with 15 aldercritters. NYC, a city with a cost of living twice ours and a population of over 8 million inside city limits, has 51, who are paid only $2000 a year more than our stooges.
Only badly run cities that are notably failing (like St. Louis with 28 alderscum and 330,000 people) have more aldercreatures for the population than we do.
Too bad this petition doesn't include term limits. But reducing the number of pigs at the trough would be a good start.

Why would someone make up a story like that? Seems like a pretty specific story to conjure up.
Maybe they are just trying to make RP look bad.

this time involving ald moore!
How about a morse hell hole pole to see how to spend a million dollars.
My suggestion.
1. Divide 1 million by the residents in 49 and cut me a check.
that would be a little over 15 bucks, if you look at the census from 2000
and use that figure of 63,484
anyways something like that.
not much money.
Pole?
15 bucks I will take it.
Hell just give me 15 on a CTA pass.
C ya got me, definitely meant poll.
Got the shaft so many times lately that it just seemed correct.
Property tax, parking tax, tax on tax.

Geofredo: If the money were divided up only among legal US residents, then we would each get $100.
