Wagons Down in 24

6:28 PM: It's tough when one district has to borrow a wagon from one district to cover another. But that's exactly what went down in the 24th district tonight. The 20th had to send over a wagon to cover 24's lack-there-of. So, not only do we have a manpower shortage - we're wagonless.

We're usually short of a wagon in 25, too. But we don't borrow any from other districts. It's usually only one wagon that operates. And that's not good, considering our district covers one of the roughest neighborhoods in the city (Austin). Sorry to hear about this though.

I was happy to see the police walking down Morse yesterday and moving the "groups" of "kids" along that like to just hang out on the street. What a group of punks they are taking over the entire sidewalk. It is funny to see them strutting and turn around and there are two big dogs next to their droopy pants! LOL

Craig, this is common Citywide. I remember one time when I worked in Timmies neck of the woods, our one wagon was down transporting prisoners to 26th street when a huge brawl broke out at Division/Pulsaki. I was on the air begging for a few wagons from neighboring districts. We got one. We ended up locking up about 5-6 people when 25-30 needed to go to jail. We had to cut our losses and leave with the 5 or 6. We usually do not have enough cars for all the Officers. I actually have to tell them to go out on foot and when we free up some cars I call them in and give them out. The garage is now closed on evenings so you can't get a pool car or have any minor repairs done. This is getting ridiculous. I have plainclothes Officers riding around in marked cars. I have traffic officers on foot, I have Officers riding 3-4 in a car because we don't have any cars. Daley is turning this city into another Detroit. People better wakeup and realize come election time the damage he is doing. This city would be fine were it not for the scams, the payoffs, the corruption, the rewarding of his friends with lucrative contracts or firesales like the CTA barn at Diversey/Clark, the needless units like the CAPS office. I could go on and on. Which brings me to another point. God forbid we are attacked by muslim extremists. We will be screwed. There is no manpower, no equipment and most importantly, NO PLAN! God help us.

wow big daddy - that's pretty scary stuff - i just don't understand why the police don't revolt. I think if you asked most people in this city, they would agree that there is nothing more important than the police force. Let's take some of the money given to the free riders that don't want to work and invest it in the police. I'm sure there is so much money that is waster that could be better spent. The "regular" people of Chicago don't know about anything you are talking about. Why don't the police bring it to their attention? What should Daley be doing?

Raz, that kind of stuff occurrs in that area all the time. It's scary, but Division and Pulaski is a rough area. I've been through there and can personally tell you everything I saw. I actually am thankful to live in an area like this. It is way worser over there.
