Hey, everyone. I'd just like to give an update on Sullivan, and talk a little about the successes our autism program has had lately. For starters, Sullivan is the same as always. Only a couple of fights and kids being kids. There was a big "play" fight around 7th period, though, but I'll talk about that a little later.
Our autism program has been doing great. Last week, we participated in an event called Special Olympics, where kids with disabilities do sports activities, basically. Being there was fun, as it was last year. The Sullivan kids were real happy to be there. I think they had lots of fun. And it shows, because we brought home 14 medals. I had fun, too. I competed in two events, one being the "running long jump" and the "100 meter dash". I came in 6th place for both. I would've done better, but my legs were somewhat messed up during the events, so I couldn't run as fast as I usually can. In conclusion to all of this, there will be an sports awards assembly later this month, and I'm told that we'll be honored during that assembly. We won't be there to see it (it's after school), but it should be fun. Also, I'd just like to say thanks to the administration for mentioning our successes last week in the school announcements yesterday (Monday).
Regarding this thing at 7th period: As I was heading to my 7th period class, out of nowhere, one boy starts punching this other boy and the crowd gathers. I'm told it was a play fight, but it sure didn't seem like one to me. The way the punches were being thrown and the way the crowd was yelling, it just seemed like a real fight. I wouldn't have been too mad about this, had they not blocked my way of getting to my class. I barely slipped into the classroom as the tardy bell rung. And, to top of it, there was no security around when this broke out, at least from what I saw. I was there for a good 30 to 40 seconds. I'm not blaming this on security (you guys do a really good job) as they have spots on the 2nd and 3rd floors that have to be watched, but really, we need at least one security guard on the 1st floor at ALL times. The way this play fight happened, someone could've gotten hurt.
But other than that, Sullivan's been calm. Still much better than last year. And, some of the stuff I see isn't worth mentioning, especially because I'm a teenager myself and I understand why the stuff is done (not that I agree with some of it, but hey, can't be a "snitch" all the time).
Update, 5/12/10: Administration announced today over the PA system that play fights will be not be tolerated anymore. They will be treated as real fights and play fighters are subject to disciplinary action. I'm guessing a lot of complaints were made yesterday about it, because I wouldn't except and would really want the school doing things just for me. But, thanks to administration for making this new "rule". I'm 99% sure I'm not the only one who wanted it.

Good post Timmy!
It's always good to hear that things are going well at Sullivan!
The Special Olympics sounded like a great time! When I was your age, my favorite was the high jump. I was awful, but always had a great time!
Thanks, Chicago. I'm the same way with Special Olympics.
As I was heading to my 7th period class, out of nowhere, one boy starts punching this other boy and the crowd gathers. . . . . But other than that, Sullivan's been calm.
Make up your mind, Timmy.
Power to the blog - Power to the blog. Sounds like Sullivan administration listens to valid complaints, Timmy.
Shut up billyjoe. If you could read, you'd understand I said "OTHER THAN THAT", meaning that BESIDES that situation, it's been calm. Damn. Stop commenting if you can't read.
Craig, I'm thinking that's part of the reason why this announcement was made. But I don't want me mentioning it to be the only reason. And I doubt it a bit that it was just me complaining. Administration was already mad (because they allegedly saw it) and I think at least a couple of other kids complained. But I'll say this, the ones involved in it and some others were pissed about this new rule.
play fighting is stupid.
Because it can turn into a real fight quick if someone throws a real punch.
Are these guys trying to become stuntmen?
