Final Sullivan Update

Hey, everyone. I'm here for my final update on Sullivan of the school year (and maybe the last update ever, who knows). School is just about over. Our graduation ceremony for the seniors is tomorrow (I'll be there, working as a service guide). Final exams are halfway over (thank god for that). It's just that time of the year which most of us have been waiting for.

If anyone's wondering, there hasn't been no fights (at least from what I know). Same old stuff. Although, there was a group of kids who attempted to start something yesterday and on another day about two weeks ago. They were ... um, I guess skipping, through the halls, shouting something at the top of their lungs. Had no idea what that was about. But other than that, nothing.

This has been a really good school year, I think. Better than last year. There were less fights and less drama. We still do have a couple of problems, but they're small for the most part, and whatever big ones we have will probably phase out as the next school year goes on. But for right now, I'll just say "whatever" to that.

This school year was yet another memoriable one. It was also enjoyable, somewhat funny and hard (in terms of school work). It's been enjoyable because I've been with the autism program yet another year. It's been great to be with them for a second year. On the first day of school back in September, this time, I wasn't nervous at all, because I already knew the staff and the kids. That was a good feeling.

Our assemblies are still enjoyable, and I've been glad to have been a part of those. In particular, our sports award assembly a couple of weeks ago left an impression on me. Our program was recongized for the work we did in Special Olympics. It felt good to see my classmates get loud cheers from their regular peers. And, our holiday parties are still the bomb. Thanksgiving, Christmas, you name it. I had fun at just about all of them.

I'll finish up here with why this year's been another enjoyable one. That's because of being with my teachers, teacher assistants, classmates from the program (old and the few new ones we got this year). About my classmates: I think that they'll all have bright futures ahead of them, because they're smart and they have the courage that it takes to have in today's society. If any of them read this, I just want to say, even though I may not be in the program next year (nearly all of my classes are outside of the program), I will still try to see them as much as I can. Not just to socalize, though. I will also try to see them so I can help them with any problems that they face at school and in life.

I have once again enjoyed my time in my regular classes. It was nice to have classes with a couple of old friends from last year and it was nice to make some new friends.

This school year was funny mainly because of the water balloon fight the seniors had a few weeks ago. Administration, I know you'll be mad at me for saying it's funny, but hey, I'm still young. Of course I'm going to think that way.

I'm still glad to be a student at Sullivan. I'm even more glad to be here than I was last year. Things have really changed, and for the better. This school still consists of a large group of real hard workers. Our autism program is still top notch, I think. It's one of the best in the city.

Again, I just wanted to give my last update on Sullivan. It's been good to have been at Sullivan for a second year, and I'll probably be back for a third year. To the seniors: Congrats, and best of luck!!! And to everyone else, I wish all a great and safe summer. It was good to have been a part of this school.

So, I'm out. Catch you guys later. Oh, one thing. Before I forget. No updates on summer school. I'm only going for two weeks and quite frankly don't see the point of updating while in summer school. If I come back with updates for Sullivan again, my first one for the school next year should be in the first or second week of September.

Timmy, Billy Joe sent you a nice note wishing you the best this summer. He also wanted to say what a great job you've done with the reports.

He told me to tell you to keep up the good work.

Thanks for the update, Timmy! I'm very glad to hear that things are calming down at Sullivan.

I hope you have a great and safe summer!

Looking forward to your next post in September... as you said, might be earlier.

Speaking of Summer, Chicago, it's time to remove that ridiculous hat youre wearing.

oh, come on billyjoe! It's a fashion statement... plus, I'm to lazy to change the pic.

Oh, Billyjoe, for cryin' out loud. You really want to pick on a kid? And then complain about my husband's hat?

What do you do for a living? Are you in customer service and feel this is your one forum to pick on people?

On the one hand, I'm somewhat thankful for your posts, because they're entertaining in their rabid display of misanthropy and general dissatisfaction with life. On the other hand, your venom is such a sad reflection of a life that never graduated from the Life on a Big Wheel arena.

Timmy, let this be a lesson to you; always treat people with kindness and understanding. If, you encounter any other "Billyjoe"types, just remember, somewhere, early on in their development, somebody "did them wrong" and they haven't learned how to forgive and move onto a higher plane.

If that fails, well, you have every right to call them out to play. You'll always win, too.

Funny Craig, I didn't get an email from him (not unless he sent you a earlier comment). I'm sure he did wish me all of those things and many more. Whatever. Don't have time for him.

Thanks for the comments, Chicago.

Mrs. Chicago: Are Timmy and your hubby so "whipped" that they need to put you on the computer keyboard to defend them from my criticisms?

Good writers accept feedback--both good and bad--on their work.

dont know where else to put this

Drive by shooting this am (6/15/10)
at 7am right outside my bedroom window. (Farwell and Wayne)

Apparently its hard to drive and shoot at the same time and the idiot crashed into two parked cars.

They did catch the guy
and from what ive heard one guy was shot in the arm

LOL> Every time I walk to 7/eleven in the morning, I wonder which one of those idiots hanging out on Farwell and Wayne are packing heat.

I'm guessing I passed these punks moments before they began shooting.

timmy,
Thanks for your updates during the year. I to attended a rough inner-city school and was able to acomplish goals. Thank you for being the role model for your classmates and caring for them. I have enjoyed reading your post and I look forward to next year. Take time this summer and enjoy yourself. Then come back and be the soldier you are. You are a prime example for others who make excuses in life about why they have not achieved goals. Keep up the great job. You are a blessing.

Billyjoe, I would accept your criticisms -- if they were giving me advice on how to improve my writing, or telling me what I did wrong. The criticisms I get from you are nothing but degrading. You do nothing but call me names and say stupid things. That's a bad criticism? Don't think so, man.

Pineapple_mom, as I said in this update, I'm not sure if I'm coming back next year with updates. In my personal and honest opinion, I don't think they are really needed anymore. We haven't had any big fights like we did in the 2008-2009 school year. While I'm not sure how the 2010-2011 school year will be yet, I don't think it'll be like when I first came to Sullivan. It's definitely calmed down. Besides, it looks like I will be really busy. I have more classes this upcoming year. I may not have time for any updates. Heck, I may have to do my crime blog only on weekends starting in September. Lastly, I've realized that Sullivan is just an inner city school. It's not like it's out in the suburbs, where half the behavior wouldn't be tolerated. In a city like Chicago, you're going to have problems in schools. Anyway, I really do enjoy being a role model on my classmates in my program, and caring for them. I want them to become better people and to have a better future than me. I didn't have really anyone there for me in my past (and still don't, much), but I want as many people as possible to be behind them. I want them to feel like they can accomplish things like me. I feel that they should never let their disablity make them feel like they can't do anything. Sometimes I yell at them, but I don't do it to harm them. I do it because I care. Thank you for your comment. It made me feel good about myself.
