Teen Shot in Rogers Park

At 8:42 p.m., a male in his late teens was shot on the 1500 block of West Pratt Boulevard in the Rogers Park neighborhood, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said. The teen shot in Rogers Park is 17 years old. He was shot in the hip and taken to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston in good condition, said Larry Langford, a Fire Department spokesman.

1500 Pratt Blvd? Not very surprising a shooting happened there. That area is the "Stone Co' Ghetto" of Rogers Park.

I think the gangbangers
are now hanging on pratt by default
because really no one else will tolerate them in their vicinity.

Its only a matter of time before the neighbors object to their presence there.

Alot of apartment buildings there on pratt, full of tenants who are too afraid or ignorant to call the police.

So this doesnt surprise me.

The victim was standing with friends about 10:50 p.m. in the 1500 block of West Pratt Boulevard when a suspect fired shots in his direction, striking him in his right hip, according to a release from police News Affairs.

Hmmm. Standing with friends
late at night on a street corner?
Why are the neighbors tolerating this? Why do you think I call every single time I see a bunch of teens/thugs standing somewhere for any length of time by where i live?

Because they are targets
and I dont want to be collateral damage.

Sounds like one person took aim at eliminating them from the street corner.

I have not seen any signs of this kind of activity in the 1200 block of W. Pratt or I would surely call.

The problems lay just west of the el tracks, by the 7-11 and the CHA townhouses. There are a number of "problem" corridor buildings on Wayne and other buildings on adjacent streets that are problem buildings, as well.

The corner of Pratt and Ashland is not the Ghetto of Rogers Park. People are not afraid to call the police on Pratt but if they are not doing any thing disruptive the police will not do anything. Some of the police that do patrol the area do pay attention and order the young people to move along but others just do not care

well go to hear from other fellow citizens who call cops.

Yeah that cha place,
well, just glad we dont have
too many of them.

There may be problem buildings on wayne, but I know that I and the people at (atleast most) of 6914 n wayne wont stand for the loitering at 6914, and the mexicans of 6921 have positive loitering of their own in front of their building.

Yeah its just a giant game of keep away. And the gangbangers are becoming pinballs, too bad rogers park in the pinball machine they
must roam in. Hey they get good exercise trolling about i guess.

Arlene: Every time I drive through the intersection of Pratt and Ashland it gives me the creeps. What, do you sell or rent real estate in this skanky strip of RP?

Wounded? If they can afford to BUY a gun, why can't they afford to take shooting lessons? A clean kill of the intended target is a much preferred outcome in these cases.

just saw about 3 drug deals by weird white dude at wayne and farwell,
5-6 calls to 911
no response.
guess they are busy.

he had a weird recon guy dressed in a black suit and white shirt and blue jeans another white guy
bicycling around.

the narc car just went past him just now.

Looks like the drug dealers on the corner are now white dudes.

Yea,you called numerous times demanding action be taken on Wayne. The white guy was a just out of prison hype looking to score. Do you really think the brothers would let somebody move in on their action?

Unknown said...

didnt mean to be obnoxious
but i guess i am
especially disturbed
when i see drug dealing right
outside my window.

guess i shouldnt
tie up the 911 lines
but i didnt know what else
to do.

Wow, is that a real live ad for Mayne Stage on the top of this blog? Did they pay for that?

We could put a major dent in the gang wars and shootings and street dealing just by legalizing these street drugs and making them available through retail outlets and clinics, depending upon the level of impairment produced by a substance.

If we could make this stuff legal in Chicago, all the people peddling it on the street and in schoolyards and fighting street wars over it, would be lured to another burg where there are still profits to be made. The profits for street dealers would go away here.

I hate drugs, but I hate Prohibition more. How many more police will have to die fighting this no-win war? Why do we not learn from history?
