Well, we need more info than that. How young? Was she outside or at her home?

Well that sucks.
That stretch of Rogers is still iffy. Good people live in the houses there though.

Btw. Is is considered suspicious activity for a group of poor kids walking down the street and one is counting a large wad of cash?

Is that something a police officer should look into?

How many reasons could account for a very poor teenage kid holding a large wad of cash?

I have seen this so many times outside my apt window at wayne and farwell.

I actually saw a cop car passby a situation just like this right when i was calling it in and he/she passed right by like everything was okay.

So I let the 911 dispatcher know
how I felt. The cops sometimes arent even trying.
This was on tuesday night.

I have been told in the past, "Thats society"
and other junk by police.

What society is, is what is allowed by our police.

Geofredo: Sounds like its time for you to get the fork outta RP.

Go join "Chicago" in Glencoe. He checks in here occasionally, to embellish Timmy the Crime Reporter and to affirm (in my opinion) that he made the right decision getting the fork out outta RP too.

Mary Mitchell of the Sun-Times had a column today about "ghetto parenting."

Certain blocks of RP, especially N of Howard, are "Ghetto Parenting Central."

And as they sang in "The Sound of Music":

"And there's no way to stop it, no, there's no way to stop it . . . "

(Well, there is, but the US Constitution doesnt allow forced sterilization, nor can it enforce these baby mamas and daddies to, at birth, hand their kids over to people who will raise them properly.)

Group of gang nuts at wayne and farwell at 1015 til about 1030pm
causing tons of noise.

They know they cant stay long.
Cops came by just after they left, they went west on farwell.

I do appreciate the cops coming by.

If the bangers didnt know that they were coming they would never leave.

I just dont want the cops to think we are nuts. Because sometimes when they come by the bangers are gone.
These guys that hang here are nuts.
And I really appreciate the cops coming by.

i'm all for the pritkers investing in the neighborhood also. it is easy to fall into the whole 'eat the rich' thing, but a world without money just ain't gonna work.
nice to see a beautiful old wright house so well kept.

yep, we have to keep calling the police with the gangbangers and the crazies at the lake - if we don't they take over!

Are you trying to snag a grant from the Pritzkers for some of that shitty "art" you make? Try to stay on topic, you silly old cow...

Has anyone really followed up with this story? The good, the bad, the ugly, the eventually questionable? I don't want to speculate or go skeptical just yet. Occasionally, leads go dead when the community is less than vigilant.

To BJ and GF: I have walked on Rogers and live nearby. The commercial strip by Damen looks seedier than it is. For TMI, go to
