2003 Revisited: Those who were around then will know what I'm talking about. While I've been very vocal in my public displeasure with Joe Moore and the way he's run this ward, I'm more worried about a ward run with this man pulling Brian White's strings. This post has been lurking with-in me since I heard he wanted to run for Alderman.
Bottom line, if it were between Joe and Brian, backed by Scott Phillips, I'd hold my nose in the voting booth, throw out three Hail Mary's so I don't get struck by lighting - and vote for Joe.
And, if Michael Harrington sticks his nose into the "Brian White for Alderman" campaign, you can surely bet this will also be closely scrutinized by the Broken Heart of Rogers Park. While I've tried to look past what others have said in the past, Mr. Harrington's track record of failure has been finally been witnessed by yours truly, first hand.
Yeah, that's how bad it'd be if Brain White would be leading this ward under Scott Phillips pulling his strings.
BLOGNOTES: When I meet a phony baloney, they must be called out. I'll post more on Scott Phillips as time rolls along this election season. You may not of heard of him, but he is a major player in the Brian White for Alderman campaign.
Blognotes 2: Sorry to the newcomers. This post is about past Aldermanic campaigns I've been personally involved in against Joe. It's turned a bit personal. Joe and his machine know this all too well. They're probably getting a kick out of this. To that I say, laugh it up.
The Broken Heart's first Question: I think it's fair game to ask Brian White why he never told anyone he was planning to run for alderman as he was going around promoting this RIF idea. It seems apparent, in the eyes of someone looking for all the facts, he was possibly using his not-for-profit Lakeside CDC that receives government funding as simply a mechanism to promote his own personal political agenda. And now that he is "out" as a candidate for alderman, wouldn't it behoove him to resign his position as Executive Director of a not-for-profit, government funded Lakeside CDC to avoid any appearance of impropriety.
Another thing should be considered. When did Scott Phillips become aware of Brian's interest in running for alderman? Shouldn't he demand Brian's resignation, or at least demand that he take a leave of absence during his aldermanic run?

I'll be very interested in your thoughts on this. yes, it certainly seems like he should resign.
Why would you not vote? Just because you have an opinion?
I've gotten an email about my confrontation with Scott last night. Scott's been blabbing on this blog anonymously for a few years, (his company IP address is one of my regular visitors) and when I finally found out who he was, it was time to let him know I knew who he was. He's a coward.
I did the same when I found out "Been There" was Mo Cahill.
In my personal opinion, Scott and Brian are both snakes in the grass.
Politics is a dirty business in Chicago. It's rough and tumble. Anyone who's ever worked on a campaign knows how nasty it can be.
From going out to securing petitions, to knocking on doors, to standing out in the cold on election day. Once you get involved, you better be ready to take all sorts of verbal and written heat. If you attach yourself to a candidate, anything can happen. As Toni about the Pink Postcard.
This race should be a barn-burner.
You know you can't have it both ways Craig. Either you allow anonymous commentary or you don't.
Barn burner in the works! ;-)
I'm curious to see the upcoming posts about S Phillips. I never thought I'd consider voting for Joe either, but with this guy behind the scenes, anything's possible. I'm surprised I haven't heard more about S Phillips lately, more people need to keep an eye on this shadowy, Karl Rove wanna-be.
Barn burner? THIS race?
Naaaah. This is going to be one of the duller aldermanic contests, an exercise in foregone conclusions. Joe Moore might as well schedule his Victory Party, because Brian White has nothing to offer and is a much worse dirtbag than what we have.
I signed White's petition because I believe NO ONE should run unopposed, even someone I happen to like.
White has a reputation as a slumlord and he is a backer of the RIF- a TIF designed to fund landlords in this ward to reserve a certain number of units for "affordable" housing, in case we should experience another real estate boom that prices lower income renters out of the neighborhood. In other words, a TIF for slumlords. Joe Moore, of course, supports this TIF.
We also have a ho-hum choice of Mayoral candidates. I hope Chico at least gets on the ballot, but I'm afraid we'll have a choice, if you call it that, between Danny Davis and Rahm Emmanuel.
I'll vote holding my nose. It maybe doesn't even really matter, given the choices we have.
Some internet comment banter between Scott Phillips, aka Rogers Parking, and I from last year.
Chris C - Hmmm - love Karl Rove - maybe I should take another look (just kills me how you liberals bring someone into the conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with it)
This state and city do come up with some of the very worst candidates that can be imagined and then wonder what happened. I saw people interviewed on the news last night who said they didn't vote for governor because it doesn't affect them like the mayor's race - really?
I'm sticking to my guns on the 'karl rove' comparison. Scott Philips is an absolute cancer on the neighborhood of rogers park and must be stopped at any cost!!!
btw, how did you find his voting records? Isn't that confidential information, and incredibly unethical to post online?
Chris C., Ethics in Chicago political campaigns? Ha. That's a good one.
Now that you've seen it for yourself, I'll pulled it off. For now.
Craig...
Is there any truth to the rumors I am hearing now?
As the publisher of Gay Chicago magazine, you declare that you are not gay, yet, as far as I can tell, nobody, and I mean nobody, has ever seen you with a woman?
The closest relationship anyone can describe seems to focus on your young, impressionable nephew?
Has this ever been investigated? Should it be?
Ah common Hugh. You can't get it up when you're drunk.
A. I met Craig's girlfriend. It was years ago, but it does happen.
B. Craig, you called for B. White to take a leave of absence, and he did. A celebration is in order. Maybe a white cake. Get it? White cake hahaha. Ha. Anyway…
C. This guy Hugh has been claiming not to be Hugh Devlin. I have a fair amount of information that he is, but do you have any? You know/knew Hugh better than me.
