I'm very much aware of that. The real problem is that the 24th District (Howard to Peterson and the Lake to Kedzie) is named the "Rogers Park District". The news media simply refers to any and all crime reports from the District as 'Rogers Park' crime. It creates the image that our Rogers Park neighborhood (Howard to Devon and the Lake to Ridge) is experiencing much more crime than is occurring. Rogers Park residents need to correct this misinformation whenever and wherever it occurs.
I've long wanted to get the district renamed "Far North" or something similar. Most of the time it's crime in Edgewater that gets tagged as Rogers Park due to the name of the police district.
I agree, Clark Street. There was a group, back in the mid '80's, that actually attempted to get this renaming issue considered. I have a file somewhere that was compiled by the group containing lots of info dealing with renaming Districts throughout the city. 'Far North' works for me. How about the "Devon District" in as much as Devon Avenue bisects the geographic area of the 24th District right down the middle. Anything would be more appropriate than it being named after a particular neighborhood.

The 2600 block of W.Fitch would put the 'incident' in West Ridge not Rogers Park.
The police reports for a huge swath of Chicago are simply labeled Rogers Park.
Its weird, I know.
