Nothing says Happy Holiday's from your neighborhood gang-bangers like an upside down pitchfork sprayed on the side of a building. Located at Morse Avenue and Paulina.
12/7/10 threw out some (6) beer bottles in front of 6921 N Wayne, doubt they had drunken them outside in the cold though, so very bizarre....
Tony of A and P management told me to F off and to never call him again when I told him about it.
I talked to the aldermans office about the continued trash and gang graffiti by 6921 N Wayne. And I left a message with CIG managment of the old peoples home
geogredo, 6912 N Wayne is exactly the kind of building that contributes to crime and blight. The other one you mentioned, the golden courtyard at 1430 W Farwell, is another building that is contributing to the problem.
The alderman in the 48th Ward, Mary Ann Smith, keeps a public website listing known problem buildings in that ward, and when you call the office there to report a problem, it is acted on immediately. I called to report problems at 5860 N Kenmore- gangbangers congregating at the entry to the bldg. and loudly talking about their gang exploits- and saw immediate results.
That is how Edgewater got cleaned up between 1997, when it was truly terrible, much worse that R.P.- and 2001. Believe me, people, Loyola had NOTHING to do with it. Loyola has been here for over a century, yet Edgewater and the south end of Rogers Park taken together were an absolute sty in 1997. It is only because Mary Ann's office has been very aggressive in going after the ownerships of problem buildings, that things improved so much along the eastern corridor between Sheridan and Broadway.
We need that kind of leadership around here, especially now that so many condo developments have failed and are reverting to unregulated rentals of units owned by amateur landlords. We shouldn't wait until a building is totally over-run with gangbangers and drugs to call the landlord into the alderman's office for a little conference and tell him to clean the place up or expect to be in housing court, facing a court-ordered vacate or sale. But if that's what it takes, you do it.
Geofredo....CIG Management AKA Jay Johnson owns multiple buildings in the area North of Howard. Without exception every month at the CAPS meetings the CIG managed buildings are discussed as problems. This will not change until the alderman and his staff decide to do something to help the neighborhood. They turn their backs on Mr Johnson and his company. If you weren't around the area a few years ago, research the fatal fire at 7706 N Marshfield. That is a CIG\Jay Johnson building. 6 children died needlessly in that fire. Mr Johnson and his management company walked away from that with a slap on the wrist.
Well, I think we should all call Tony with A and P Management now!! What a jerk!!! Keep emailing and calling the Alderman's office - they seem to want to ignore crime and these horrible buildings.

Thanks, Craig.
It's like one of those big oversized Christmas cards. Makes me feel all warm inside. Must be the Christmas spirit.
