Police Officer Shot in Edgewater/Stabbing on Winthrop/Offender Shot in Rogers Park After Car Chase

CHICAGO BREAKING NEWS: Police officer shot at Glenlake and Broadway. 10-1 goes out at 17:30. Car chase in progress. Police chasing a Ford F-150. Action now at Devon and Greenview. Offender shot. Traffic shut down at Hollywood and Broadway.

Update - 5:40 PM: Police Officer shot at 5929 North Broadway. Now at St. Francis Hospital with bullet wound to the leg.

Different crime scene: Male has slashed throat at 5841 North Winthop. Was first called in at 5:27 PM as person shot in building on 4th floor. Victim now at Illinois Masonic.

After car chase, offender shot at Devon and Greenview. One offender taken in at Devon and Greenview.

5:45 PM: Apartment 406 has a possible DOA at 5841 North Winthrop. It's basically a mess in Edgewater. Radio chatter is now blocked. Mobile off.


5:54 PM: Three different crime scenes. Devon and Greenview. Thorndale and Broadway. 4841 North Winthrop. All corners mentioned are being blocked to traffic.

5:54 PM: Chicago Breaking News gets a report up. I'll let the pros take over from here. All forms of big-time media are now flocking to the scene looking for answers.

6:40 PM: Tom Mannis at the News Bench is reporting all this started as a basic robbery.

7:20 PM: Chicago Sun-Times reporters are really on the ball. They're getting reports on this from the CTA Bus Tracker Alert.

7:45 PM: Chicago Tribune reports three people killed from my 5:45 PM report. "Officials from the Cook County medical examiner's office said that a total of three people were pronounced dead as a result of the incidents -- the two apparent stabbing victims and the suspect shot by police."
