Person shot for unpaid bar tab in Rogers Park

Fake cop shoots bar patron for failing to pay his bill.
A doorman at a Rogers Park bar faces felony aggravated battery charges after he shot a patron in a dispute over an unpaid bar tab, prosecutors alleged. Danielito Valentin, 31, also faces charges of impersonating a police officer after he admitted carrying a Chicago Police badge so he could pose as an off-duty cop, it’s alleged.
Valentin was working the door at Gallagher’s bar, 1770 W. Greenleaf, Friday night when he got in a dispute with a group of men who had been kicked out of the bar for failing to settle a tab three weeks earlier, Assistant Cook County State’s Attorney Dan Pinowarczyk said. More here.
Well, this answers one question to the many alleged shootings reported over the weekend.

As for the Morse/Farwell/Greenview shooting the neighbors called 911 on. Alderman Moore got back with me. He's been in contact with Commander Wick about the incident, and the police detectives are thoroughly investigating the matter. At this moment no one's mentioning anything about a gang turf war.

There's a CAPS meeting at 1530 West Morse tonight, at 7PM, if you're so inclined to get your ass chewed out for reporting on any type crime in the neighborhood in a public forum. (note to CAPS personal, please remove the dozens and dozens of fliers you posted illegally all over Beat 2431. Here's a photo of three fliers someone in CAPS posted without permission, with-in 20 feet of each other, on our building. If I had a wide angle lens, I could've had 5 fliers in this one photo. Can you say over-kill?)

Well I picked up litter this am, the most heavily littered leg on my trip is also its most troubled of late, I guess for someone like matt that is just a coincidence and i decided to take matt's criticism to heart, so pick up more litter I did.

I met a motley crew of neredowells this am as well, two black males one with a black baseball cap and one with a red doorag and a white female. They muttered about my picking up the trash and hung about in my general vicinity and then wandered off.

Yeah Greenview wasnt that bad, but the litter reaccumulates fast. For some reason the neighbors there just dont care, the two remaining duplexes and where the other duplex was and is now a 6-8 flat never ever ever ever pick up trash. Even on their own property.

Oh well.....

More thoughts....

Non picking up of litter and the persistence of litter is evidence that the local denizens dont care, the longer the litter persists the more the bangers can tell that the coast is clear and this is a good place to set up. Especially when you see liquor bottles/beer cans.

This also tells me that the people on greenview arent likely calling the cops. You know where the bangers hang? Its the natural law of the path of least resistance.

Persistence of graffiti, litter, and tolerance of their prescense (?spelling) tells them that this is a good place to set up for business.

If people keep litter picked up everyday, call 311 on graffiti immediately and call 911 immediately for loitering, then the gangs move on. Keep the pressure on!!!!!!

And craig, those fliers atleast protect those boarded up windows from graffiti.

I like the fact that those fliers were posted everywhere, sure I have to pick some up that become litter but it says loud and clear that this neigborhood needs to step it up to get rid of the gangs.

NIP it in the BUD.

Just talked with Quetske property or however they spell it, they are managing 6921-23 n greenview and let them know that their courtyard and also that the parkway is litter filled. (it isnt now because I picked it up)

Ofcourse they say that what the gangs do is not under their control, I told them they need to pick up their trash.

773-281-8400 is their number.

If you arent happy with the litter you see outside their building let them know.

Well I did talk to them again and they were nicer, I cant help but be a bit obnoxious.

I let them them know about their parkway and courtyard.

Hopefully quetske properties will do a better job of keeping up 6921-23 n greenview looking good.

@ Jeffo,

Thank you from a grateful neighbor. You've inspired me to pick up trash on my corner as well.

Why would anyone pick up their trash when they know you are just going to come along and do it for them?

While in theory I agree that picking up the trash is good for the neighboorhood, I've noticed that those who litter don't care, and they will always continue to do it.

Because dave I wont let this neigborhood descend into chaos (it will anyways at times, but I cant sleep at night if i havent tried my best). And I wont leave it up to chance. The stakes are too high.

I chide those who dont take care
and will take care of it anyways if need be.

Dave, the litter decreases the more you pick it up. You have a defeatist attitude. I simply wont tolerate the litter.

I agree that picking up the litter around your property (at least) is a good idea. I don't want people coming to my house and seeing trash around. I can barely stand to walk down Sheridan due to all the trash. I can't imagine I would want to own a business with that trash in front either, but I guess they just don't care - pathetic.

Jeffo, Thanks for helping with the litter. Me and my wife also pick up the litter on our block. Dave asks, Why? Because it does not take much time and the neighborhood LOOKS better. That in turn attracts more good people who in turn will push out some of the remaining slim. And it is a positive and good neighbor chore to do. This is one thing I do to improve the area.
