Tales from the streets: Sunday in Rogers Park

It started with what looked liked another mugging on Morse and Glenwood around noon on Sunday. A female was in front of the MorseL screaming for some to call police as a male was grabbing at her purse. Three people intervened calling 911 as the offender fled south on Glenwood the darted through the alley by Sidecar, heading towards Greenview. After the dust had settled it turned out to be domestic in nature, whereas the male was trying to take money from the female. Police arrived on scene and handled the rest of the case.

As the day went on Mother Nature took over with a massive ice/rain/snow storm. The city plow/ice trucks went down Morse but left the side streets alone. Neighbors didn't even bother de-icing their sidewalks, making the walk to all entranceways a iceskating rink. I don't know if it was laziness or lack of consideration for their fellow neighbors - but it sure wasn't neighborly - or safe to be walking around between 3 p.m. to midnight. Guess they were all busy chatting on Everyblock about how good the neighborhood is - or if anyone lost a cat or found a chicken.

Nice synopsis of Rogers Park on Sunday. We put out salt ahead of the ice storm, so our sidewalks were safe.

Should've ordered some food from Chuckie's, Morse Gyros or Grill Inn. Then I could've added only one neighbor salted their walkway.

For the record, I wiped out three times yesterday on the bike. Once on the icy bricks in front of Sidecar on Glenwood, once on the Wayne Street bricks and once in the alley near Sheridan and Howard. Had to ground service for an hour.

Any information on what happened to the window of the Glenwood?

I didn't salt because I knew it would melt by midnite, which it did!

I did find a chicken but the cat I lost ate him.
