Steve Golovan Loves Rogers Park!

Ald. Moore Loves Steve Golovan too.
Alderman Moore claims to want community imput, so Alderman Moore holds a community meeting. He invites his donors a chance to show how much they love Rogers Park. The community listens but clearly doesn't agree. When asked by the community how they can stop this project, Alderman Moore said that he could not stop the permits because Castlebar would sue him if that occured. I have a simple solution below.
Field7 1528WGreenleaf Church18
This 1522-28 W. Grennleaf community meeting flier was posted on the Field School door on Ashland, the other was buried in a sea of fliers on the Church at Greenleaf and Greenview. Two kids did show up with their mother, not sure how many members of the church showed up? There were about 45 neighbors in attendance for this meeting.

As you can see, no fliers were placed on the other side of the street, no fliers were attached to the 7018 N. Ashland Castlebar project where seven of eight properties lay very vacant, but claim to be sold. If fact, I have dozens of photos of this selective fliering Alderman Moore did last Saturday for this meeting, a meeting for Mr. Golovan to intoduce himself to the community. A good neighbor, welcome wagon of sorts.

Who is Mr. Golovan? Well, when not too busy tearing down single-family homes to Neighborhood "Densification" ( a new word for our neighborhood dictionary by Don Gordon) condominium complexes like this project at 7018 N. Ashland and 1522-28 W. Greenleaf, Mr. Golovan indulges his keen interest in local greenspace in the 49th Ward.
Garden29
A nice community garden now sits at 1528 W. Greenleaf. The Rogers Park Neighbors threw a great community get together in this very spot. Mr. Golovan touted Lake View and Lincoln Park as his proving ground. Mr. Golovan didn't attend the community picnic, but, he loves Rogers Park! This lot also serves to reduce neighborhood parking congestion, a concern that doesn't bother Mr. Golovan, he loves Rogers Park, but doesn't park here.

Apparently, he finds Alderman Moore's brand of politics much to his liking also. Although he does not live in the ward, Mr. Golovan is among Ald. Moore's most generous supporters. Much of Alderman Moore's big donor, campaign contributions come from outside the 49th Ward. Like I said, Mr. Golovan loves Rogers Park!

$6,000.00 reported since 2002.

For some reason, Mr. Golovan prefers not to put his name on any of his contributions to Joe Moore, but Mr. Golovan loves Rogers Park.

Mr. Golovan's inside guy and partner Rich Aronson, a member of the 49th Ward Zoning Committee and on the DevCorp North board of Directors didn't want to join us at the meeting. But I'm sure Mr. Aronson loves Rogers Park also.

For Mr. Aronson, It's nice to be on the 49th Ward Zoning Board. Do you think he contributes to the Alderman's campaign fund? If you said yes, you would be right!

Here is a recent single family home tear-down project these two guys built at 7018 N. Ashland, with advertisment claims to have sold 50%. I counted one name on the buzzer system. Wouldn't you want your name on the buzzer if you bought one of these condos? Also notice the historic photo where once was a front and back yard, now doesn't have any yard at all.

These condos are just 250 feet from the 1522 W. Greenleaf property and haven't been selling well, but they want to build more. These guys love Rogers Park.

One simple request Alderman Moore, please give the money back, this looks too conspicuous. Show us you really love and care about Rogers Park. Maybe then, Mr. Golovan won't have any reason to sue you?

If you love Rogers Park like Mr. Golovan, please take a couple of minutes and fill out the Progressive Rogers Park form.

Craig, your post unfairly characterizes Aronson's generosity toward Alderman Moore.

The Official Realtor of the 49th WardRichard M. Aronson is a realtor with Camelot Realty of America, Inc., on the Board of Directors of DevCorp North, a member of DevCorp North's standing committee on real estate development and Alderman Moore's "community" Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee (ZALUAC). Mr. Sinar is the Secretary and attorney for Camelot Realty of America, Inc. Camelot Realty of America, Inc., Camelot Development, LLC, their officers, and employees have contributed at least $6300.00 to Moore since 1999, according to Moore's disclosures to the Illinois State Board of Elections. They are among Alderman Moore's most generous supporters.

Contributions from real estate developers are the fuel that stokes the machine of ward politics in Chicago and paves our neighborhoods. All citizens of Chicago should be familiar with the important State Board of Elections Campaign Disclosure web site and how to use it. This web site is key to understanding our neighborhood.

Pay to PlayAlderman Moore's speaking engagement on Tuesday night, February 1, at 7:20 PM was a paid promotional appearance for a for-profit business. Who knows, for a few thou more, maybe he would even show up on time.

One neighbor even asked, "I don't understand, why are we even having this meeting?"

Fellow citizens, our biggest problem at the national level is also our biggest problem at the local level: Our elected representatives have been bought and paid for by business interests. We may not have big oil or pharmaceuticals companies or defense contractors in our neighborhood, but we do have real estate developers. Real estate developers routinely transact large enough deals that it is no biggy for them to peal off a few tenths of a percent to grease the skids. Residents and home owners don’t have those kinds of resources. Real estate developers are dictating what our neighborhood will look like.

"This meeting is informational," Alderman Moore replied, stopping just short of calling it what it was: an info-mercial

Mr. Golovan and Mr. Aronson:

If you want to do something good for Rogers Park, if you really love Rogers Park, here is a property to buy, to tear down and build your 18 condos!

Yes! Buy and build on Craig's referenced North of Howard property. We have Gale Park, so let Craig and his neighbors have one too. A non-slumlord would be welcome.

Daley will kill scandal-torn Hired Truck
Mayor also limits political donations

By Gary Washburn and Ray Long, Tribune staff reporters, February 9, 2005

Taking personal blame for lax oversight that has allowed scandal to fester and intensified questions about favoritism at City Hall, Mayor Richard Daley said Tuesday he no longer will accept political contributions from city contractors.

The announcement, believed unprecedented in Chicago's history, ...

Ald. Joe Moore (49th) applauded the mayor's decision on contributions, and said the City Council should consider a similar ban for its members.

Alderman Moore,

You will stop taking cash from those you do business with as soon as the City Council makes it illegal? Why do you need the City Council to tell you who to take cash from? You can stop taking cash from those you do business with whenever you like. Why not start today? In fact, why not stop taking cash from real estate developers, and give back the cash from the developers you have stumped for, as a sign of good faith to the majority of your constituents who are concerned about density in our neighborhood? After all, who is more "good government" than you? Show leadership.
