This weeks Inside Lincoln Park newspaper features a huge fire at Doninicks on Broadway as it's cover story. I've covered building fire stories before, but this had a twist. We had a hero.
The deli manager, Dave Boder, who makes my lunch a couple days a week was able to get the announcement out to shoppers, " Good Afternoon Dominicks Shoppers, Happy Father's Day, we have a fire in aisle eight"! OK, I added a bit here, he wasn't so polite. With that, I called the publisher Ron Roenigk at Inside and told him I had a killer story. Did he want it? He said sure, start snooping.
