Artvideo e-mailed me and asked that I do a best ( and worst ) list for 2005. I couldn't resist. So, I'm counting down each of the five best stories that got results and will finish with five that still need to be solved.
Let's start the "best of list" with the new, chrome light poles that were installed. Then DevCorp North decided to half paint them for some odd reason. Clearly, downtown Streets and Sanitation didn't like what DevCorp North did with-out permission and had to fix the DevCorp North mistake. No word if DevCorp North paid back the city for this boondoggle, time waster. I was told the City of Chicago was looking into it. But they don't always tell the truth either.
If you have a "best of", or "worst of" story, email me.
{Drum roll} Here is story number 5.
Extra Waste Cost Taxpayers More Money
As the Hell Hole pointed out more than a month ago, this issue is finally being rectified.
Emails to DevCorp and the Alderman's office were ignored, yet this didn't deter me. The site of a half painted pole was just plain tacky. Michael C. praised this work, but Streets and Sanitation spokesman Matt Smith didn't agree and promised to resolve the problem. He did.
Graffiti Blasters today are spending valuable time with your tax dollars removing the paint DevCorp North wasted with Special Service Area #24 tax dollars.
How much more taxpayer waste can the community stand under the helm of DevCorp North and Alderman Moore? The city should look into having DevCorp North reimburse them for their effort?
But... that would cost the SSA #24 taxpayers money out of the SSA budget.
