* Oh Chip Bag Tree - Where Have You Gone?

Chip Bag tree
Last year we at the 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park had a little Christmas contest where we asked readers to decorate the plastic trees that once graced the planters at the Morse Avenue EL. One reader named Chip Bagg went all out with his little tree and won the contest.

Now these funky plastic trees are long gone. They've been removed because of all the bad press they were receiving. They been replaced with trash and garbage. That's right, the business owners got duped into forking over to DevCorp North their hard earned money for improvements, only to have nothing more than trash, garbage and dirt filled containers to show for it.

So in one year nothing has changed over at DevCorp North. They're still ripping off the public. They're still unaccountable. The Alderman is still turning his back on the problem and allowing DevCorp North to rip off the public. Some Special Service Area Tax #19 and 24 Merry Christmas huh? Where's the decorations for the EL planters? Where is our Chip Bag Tree?

I figured this was your doing Mr. Bagg. Nico's Mom has between us two to choose. And yes, someone murdered Luntie. Sad.

Dear Chip Bag,

You are the winner of the First Annual Rogers Park Sad Plastic Tree Holiday decorating contest. Please write to me and let me know whether you will be choosing the breakfast at Heartland, the dinner at Cazuela, the fragrance from Fragrance Island (open during construction), the half-pint from Soo's or the pie. (I recommend the pie). I would also be willing to award you a months supply of Vintner's Hot Cheese Doodles if you prefer - I can see they hold a special place in your heart.

You can bet the taxpayer money DevCorp North got from the City did not go down even though they are not decorating anymore.
