Adelphi Theatre
7074 North Clark St
1917 to 2006
At around 2:00pm today, the fight to save the Aldephi theatre was crushed as the wrecking crane opened it's huge steel jaws on it's bucket.... then closed the bucket's jaws equally as quick.... then taking hold of it's first few chucks of bricks and then dropped them from the bucket to the ground.
With-in minutes most of the back wall of the theatre that runs along Ravenswood Avenue was a pile of rubble ready to be carted off. "Looks like you're all a day late and a dollar short,"said Blogger Bob.
Alderman Moore and his developer buddies win again. Another foe pushed aside by Alderman Moore for the almighty dollar in the campaign coffer, not to mention Alderman Moore is creating 40 plus new Special Service Area #24 taxpayers.

Janice, Thanks for joining, feel free to read some of the other stories. No More Joe Moore, please hold back on those comments for now, I'm working on that.
Well I'm sorry to see the theatre go. But you guys knew it was in the cards. So. What did you do to stop it. While you spend endless hours railing against the evil Joe Moore and posting pictures of trashy Christmas trees in planters and railing against how bad the leadership is...
What did you do to stop this?
Did you organize community meetings? Voters do mean something to politicos, so don't you think a petition with real voters signatures on it could have meant something? How about rally's in front on the alderman's office? Did any of you set up a phone tree to call people, who would have called the alderman's office? Did anyone investigate possible buyers? Could one of you have put together a proposal to use some of the TIF money to buy/rehab the theatre? You knew eventually something was going to happen to the Alephi.
I think your a phony bunch of wind bags. All steam and no power.
When you go to the ends to annoy the powers that be, why should they listen to you?
Toto just thinks you're a bunch of circle jerks.
First you whine and complain about the lack of development, and the poor quality of development and how the development agencies are rips offs.
And then whine because you don't get the development you want, because the agencies are not doing their jobs.
But oooh if someone does propose a development and get it approved there has to be corruption involved.
And then you whine some more because yuppies might actually move to Rogers Park. And hey, they just might displace some of the drug infested poor folks that secretly you hate anyway.
But once they're gone, and property values and taxes go up, you'll whine about that too.
You aren't forward moving people, you rather sit on the pity pot and whine away all day about how unjust life is.
Do you really think that if Joe Moore lost the next election, you'd get everything you've been belly aching about taken care of by the next guy?
Here's a clue apply your energy for the things that really count. When you see street light's out, graffitti that needs clean up, trash that needs pick up bombard 311, the city's website for repairs and the Ward office. Don't waste your time taking photos of nincompoops and trying to draw a line between the nincompoop and some chump change campaign contribution.

If your life is so full of anger and agnst, take a pill. I do.
if enough of us call the dept.of buildings, an inspector will issue a stop work order so an environmental inspection can take place. this type of hazard is taken very seriously.
i have written a letter to Alderman Moore to alert him to the concern everyone has expressed here and to me personally. give it a read and send a message to the alderman. there is a link at the bottom of the page.

What they need to do is make sure there is water dampening down the dust, that is a city code.
Correct....but it started raining and snowing last night and the temp dropped quickly.
No need to spray it yesterday.......I doubt there was any dust flying around after 5PM
Sad to see it go............With all due respect to Bill Morton and all who tried to save it. I don't see any reason to BLAME the Ald for this fate.
i have posted a letter written to the alderman as a response to concerns expressed here and from some that i have recieved personally.@ howardwatchers. the link is at the bottom of the page.
comment and send your concerns to the alderman.
thanx craig.
This has happened before: really bad men trying to benefit from doing business with the City, and we taxpayers have put laws in place to protect us from exactly this kind of thing happening. It is supposed to be impossible for someone who owes child support to benefiting from doing business with our home town. You can't have outstanding PARKING TICKETS and get a zoning change, let alone have $400K in back child support.
Economic Disclosure Statement
SECTION V -- CERTIFICATIONS
A. COURT-ORDERED CHILD SUPPORT COMPLIANCE
Has any person who directly or indirectly owns 10% or more of the Disclosing Party been declared in arrearage on any child support obligations by any Illinois court of competent jurisdiction?
[ ] Yes [ ] No [ ] No person owns 10% or more of the Disclosing Party.
Instructions
The City of Chicago (the "City") requires disclosure of the information requested in this Economic Disclosure Statement and Affidavit ("EDS") before any City agency, department or City Council action regarding the matter that is the subject of this EDS.
WHO MUST SUBMIT AN EDS:
An EDS must be submitted in any of the following three circumstances:
1. Applicants: An Applicant must always file this EDS. If the Applicant is a legal entity, state the full name of that legal entity. If the Applicant is a person acting on his/her own behalf, state his/her name.
2. Entities holding an interest: Whenever a legal entity has a beneficial interest (i.e. direct or indirect ownership) of more than 7.5% in the Applicant, each such legal entity must file an EDS on its own behalf.
3. Controlling entities. Whenever a Disclosing Party is a general partnership, limited partnership, limited liability company, limited liability partnership or joint venture that has a general partner, managing member, manager or other entity that can control the day-to-day management of the Disclosing Party, that entity must also file an EDS on its own behalf. Each entity with a beneficial interest of more than 7.5% in the controlling entity must also file an EDS on its own behalf.
Note that who must file an EDS is recursive, that is, if a partnership, the partners have to file, and if the partners are partners, they have to file, and so on. The disclosure process is supposed to "bottom out" at REAL PEOPLE, with REAL NAMES, not INCs or LLCs or LPs.
Note that anyone requesting City Council action is required to file. A zoning change requires city council action. Zuric's zoning change was passed 11/1/05, Application number 15206. Zuric's EDS should be on file with the Department of Zoning. We need to take a look at it. This isn't supposed to happen. Something went wrong.
I can hear Alderman Moore now. Remember back to the Green drop off clothing box scandal? Hugh knows, help me out on this one.
The Alderman mentioned something to the effect, if he knew then, what he knows now, he wouldn't have helped that group.
This fits perfect for this issue. We will call this excuse #14.

Legislative History of the Adelphi Theater Zoning Change
The zoning change for the Adelphi Theater was introduced to the Chicago City Council by BZ Development Inc. on 9/14/05.
The President of and agent for BZ Development Inc.is listed as
BRANISLAV ZURIC
1741 W CRYSTAL
CHICAGO IL 60622
Same address as Golden Hands Construction Company, Inc.. of which Branislav Zuric is also President and Cedomir Zuric is Secretary.
BZ Development is not in good standing with the State of Illinois. The State of Illinois dissolved BZ Development on 12/1/05, 5 weeks before they were issued a demolition permit, 1/9/06. Our home town issued a demo permit to a company that didn't exist.
Golden Hands Construction Company, Inc. donated $1000 to Citizens for Joe Moore on 6/8/2005, months before Moore's personal apprearance and the zoning change was introduced to the City Council. Although Moore listed the payment as an "individual contribution", Moore did not include either Branislav Zuric's or Cedomir Zuric's name when Moore disclosed the contribution to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

"Chad" has money for Joe but none for his children
hugh-
if the company didn't exist legally at the time the permit was issued, how valid is the demo permit?
"Chad" had $1000 of discretionary cash in his pocket, and had to make a decision: What is the best use of my money?
1. my children
2. Joe Moore
He chose Joe Moore.
Show of hands: how many people have given money to an Aldermanic campaign IN ANOTHER WARD?
What was it that motivated Mr. Zuric to put his 1st amendment right to political expression ahead of his children? Perhaps "Chad" is an animal rights sympathizer. Or perhaps he is an ardent political reformer, like Joe Moore.
Thanks "Chad" for helping us pick our Aldermen!
This is our own fault. We failed to ask the right questions.
A lesson to learn from this experience:
When Alderman Moore introduced one of his developer pals to the community, don't forget to ask,
WHATS YOUR REAL NAME?
Alderman Moore's vetting of this real estate developer was complete when his check cleared.
Moore put one company's name (BZ Development) on the zoning change and another company's name (Good Hands Construciton) on the campaign contribution, and no PERSONS name on either, hoping we would not conecct the dots in time.
