* Pivot Point Project & The "Hint of Possible Influence"

Out of ward developer Nick Kopley and Alderman Moore get along just fine. And why not? According to Nick Kopley, he is a "frequent contributor to Alderman Moore's campaign fund.

As you can see by the list below, Nick is correct.

Alderman Moore has received at least $9,500 from Kopley since 1999 alone. Who knows how much more those figures could be?

Asked at Monday night's 2 and a 1/2 hour Kopley infomercial if the Alderman would be giving the money back to avoid the "Hint of possible influence"? While trying to avoid the question and fillibustering with no success, the Alderman answered in a quick two letter word "NO", and moved on.

I'll be linking various view points of this meeting from the other bloggers who were in attendance last night just as soon as they post their stories to their blogs. I'll have a couple other tid-bits on this meeting later.

The first view comes from Toni at24/7 Howardwatchers.

While my neighbors seem to have developed something of an immunity to this, I am continually amazed that we all sit through these charades and by our presence give credence to Moore's pretending that the campaign cotributions don't matter.

Developer money is the main fuel of incumbancy in the Chicago City Council. Control of zoning and permitting is the #1 advantage an incumbent Alderman has over challengers. Moore is playing it to the hilt. We are not witnessing a recent burst of development, we are witnessing fundraising in the run-up to the elections.
