Can anyone tell us what in the Hell Hole is going on here? A dumpster is in the middle of Pratt at Sheridan. Blocking everything.
* Neighbors are up in arms over the lack of parking.
* Neighbors are up in arms over the traffic tie up, without warning.
* Neighbors are just up in arms, wondering, "what's the is going on?"
What if there were an emergency at the end of Pratt? It's happened before. How would the first responders get to the situation such as a fire or murder?
Yet, parking doesn't seem to be a problem for this white van with official looking yellow flashers on top. It parked illegally in the public parkway. I saw this van before. The driver of the van pulled up as I was examining the dumpster earlier this week on a "Broken Heart" Hot Line tip. He asked if I was with "the Morse Hell Hole," then he two way radioed the information to someone. Then the driver told me he was "waiting for me to show up!" We both had a quick chuckle. Then he quickly drove off without answering one question. I wonder why?
Maybe it's because there is a huge dumpster is in the middle of the road with a deep hole covered by a few chunks of wood.
To be continue.

Toto sez: Seems like a mighty large hole in the street. If the city didn't put something large there to prevent someone from driving into the hole, you'd probably be screaming about that too. There's a perfectly good traffic lane there for people to use.
I heard there was a lot of police at the 1400 block of Farwell last night about 6:30. Does anyone know anything about this?
I have driven my little pickup truck past this dumpster each of the past two nights. There are two problems, as I see it:
First and foremost is that while my tiny little truck could get through, there is absolutely no way a fire truck could have driven through there. They would have had to ram the parked cars out of the way to get through, or possibly they could have come around through the park. Neither option is satisfactory, and there are probably 15 buildings past this dumpster that are cut off from firetrucks. The 15 minute delay in firefighting that this will cause could cost lives. The second problem is that this obviously can't have been given a permit, so someone is doing construction work and making a profit in a way that endangers the neighborhood.
The alternative was to get a permit, and block off the hole with concrete barriers that are narrow enough to allow fire truck access. But someone would have had to rent them, and that costs money. They saved a few hundred bucks, and traded off someone else's access to the fire department. Not cool.
I have to admit that I didn't call this in. My mind was elsewhere. But I will now.
I was just told that the dumpster has been moved. Abracadabra.
What couldn't MJH do, photograph a dumpster, or admit to driving a tiny little truck? I myself think MJH could do almost anything, as long as he had the opportunity to explain himself in 15000 words or more.
