* Teen Charged With Raping Loyola Student

FROM STNGWIRE REPORTS

An indictment was returned Tuesday against a North Side teen accused of kidnapping and raping a Loyola University Chicago student.

Joseph A. Davis, 18, of the 6400 block of North Glenwood Avenue, was indicted on multiple counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, criminal sexual assault and kidnapping, according to Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Tom Stanton. Davis also was indicted on one count each of robbery and aggravated robbery.

Davis’ arraignment was slated for the 9 a.m. call on Wednesday in courtroom 101 of the Cook County Criminal Courthouse, Stanton said.

The defendant is accused of attempting to befriend a 19-year-old female, whom he then assaulted as she was leaving a party around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, according to a release issued by police News Affairs.

Police allege Davis approached and grabbed the victim, forced her onto the sidewalk and assaulted her in the 1200 block of West Farwell.

Detectives investigating the case said DNA evidence positively links Davis to the crime, according to the release. The Illinois State Police Crime Lab confirmed the match and police, who had knowledge of Davis’ hangouts, arrested him without incident on March 28, the release said.

Police said the victim later picked Davis out of a lineup and the suspect provided a statement about his involvement in the crime.

Davis’ bond was set last month at $700,000.

The victim refused CAPS Beat 2431 request for court advocacy.

What murder in West Rogers Park? Where/when did this happen? I have noticead more cop cars lately and, God knows, you can't get a cop to respond to anything in WRP when calling 911!
