* Termites Chew Tree that Falls on Car
Eddie, who I think said he lives around Chase and Ashland, got off the Metra train at Greenleaf and found this, a tree on top his car. Who would do such a thing?
If Katy Hogan told me mother nature blew this tree over, I wouldn't believe her. There were no storms or high winds, this tree just disintegrated from the bottom. It's like mulch inside this tree. All that's left is the inner and outer bark. A guy who lives down the block said the tree was full of termites. We were warned about Asian long horned beetles eating away at the trees in Rogers Park, not termites.
After Eddie talked to his insurance guy. He waited for Streets and Sanitation to get the termite chewed tree off of his car. They did and they were good. Took about an hour for them to get there. The guy with the claw held the tree while the other guy drove it out from underneath. Then they dismantled the tree with a chain saw.
After the guy left to drop his car at the body shop, Michael Land from the 49th ward Alderman's office showed up. He said he was driving by and wanted to know what was going on. He told me he hopes the guy shows up at the ward office, they can help him fill out a claim with the city of Chicago. It must be an election year.
