* DCI Now Supports Gordon?

Political campaigns send out their workers and volunteers to do lot's of silly little chores. One of those chores is spending lot's of time going in and out of local businesses to display their candidates political signs. It's a time honored tradition.

Then the other candidates overzealous volunteers go in the shop and try to get their sign in the window and the other sign removed. That's how it's always works.

But this year something strange is happening. Shopkeepers are hanging two, three and four signs. Yes, I've seen them stay in and get taken down, like the 'sale of the week'.

In most all of the elections I've ever witnessed, shopkeepers rarely cross the incumbent, in fear of having the inspectors come in with-out notice. That's a time honored tradition too. But this year, shop-keepers have had enough of Alderman Moore and are hanging other candidates signs - as a sign that things aren't good around here. These store owners want change in leadership. Just walk up and down Clark Street, hardly a incumbent sign can be found. And those that do, have another candidates sign in the window too.

And then there are stores like DCI on Glenwood. One day it's GInderske, the next day it's Gordon. Can't help to think, what caused this switch?

Could it be these people changed their minds when they met another candidate?

What's so terrible about that?

This is an idiotic post, Craig.

For those who are making the jack-ass comments that I have to delete - you don't like the material, stop following along.

Or better yet, start your own blog. It's as simple as one, two, three.

Smartypants, sign up under your real name or your comments will be removed from now on.

Lot's of cowards are posting these day's without saying who they are, or who they may be affiliated with. That's right, anyone who can't identify themselves posting here are cowards, plain and simple. How can a community be so afraid?

As Toto says, please sign-in and tell us who you're endorsing before making a comment. Although Toto is as cowardly as the rest of you, the mutt is entertaining. Don't you guys have any backbone, stand up and say who you are.

Looks like I have to keep track of the childish one's here a little more closely over the next 40 days.

Craig,

You sound so angry and I can't help but feel that it has to do with something I said or did. I don't understand what it is. Please help me here. I am really upset. Please believe me. I don't support Joe Moore. In fact, I am afraid of him. I really admire people like you who fight back. Can you please tell me what I did? Can you find it in your heart to forgive me? Please don't cut me out of the community.

Mary

Removing Signs/INTIMIDATION Is one of the incumbent's favorite tactics. He has resources to spare while the challengers spend way too much time and energy trying to raise cash just to print signs to post! And Joe and his minions know this and get their sicko delights in removing them. An alderman should be held accountable for his actions and intimidation is not a nice way to treat constituents who favor another candidate now is it? Intimidation is bullying. Intimidation is for the schoolyard, not a playing field where WE, the collective whole, pay the price for unfair elections and the pre-election tactics.

When one of the signs was removed from one store, I inquired 'who' took it down? The owner claimed he didn't know, but it's INTIMIDATION. When I saw a Moore replacement in the window where a Gordon sign had been placed along with Moore's but Gordons had been removed, the poor owner just threw his hands up, tore it off the window and said 'F--K it, no one can hang political signs here then. You've helped me in the past, Joe hasn't, So No signs period.

Intimidation is alive and well in Ward 49 in more ways than many of you know.

It's also known as DIVIDE AND CONQUOR a tactic the boys like Van Man and CB have been doing for years. Long before I moved here. They probably have opponents signs from previous elections in storage along with these outdated Moore signs.

It would NOT be above the crew to take down one opponents sign and pretend to be another candidates volunteer and post it elsewhere. ALL VOLUNTEERS SHOULD WEAR AN ID THAT CAN BE CONFIRMED WITH THE CANDIDATES OFFICE.

Then we might get some honesty in campaigning up here.

I was trying to find a example of a volunteer getting screwed by Alderman Moore Toni.

I forgot it was you! Thanks for finding it for me.

In the future, I'll give you a jingle if I can't find the links. 24/7 Howatcher rules!

Actually DON went into each store, spoke to the manager on site about his candidacy. Gordon taped the signs in the windows himself after receiving PERMISSION. There was no intimidation or bullying. Plus the other candidates don't have the 'assistance' of clean up crews posting on illegal spaces.

I was an observer who shared the actions via the blog.

I too will be glad when this abundance of signs come down. Believe me it is no better on the South Side.

It's advertising Carol. Do you see only ONE product advertised in the papers? I see it as being open minded to CHANGE and allowing customers to see there are other contenders. The voters are clueless if they only see the same name in blue.

Sorry John, I'm not into nitpicking over analogies. If a store gives permission to post a sign then the opponents/incumbent doesn't have a right to intimidate him/her into removing it.

If you want 4 moore years, then use your vote for him. If not, choose one of the other three.

A politician is similar to a product. If you buy it and it doesn't do what the advertisers claim, you can either toss it or demand your money back.

It's not quite the way it works with politicans. You have to call in the big guns with wiretaps and stings.

I am not sure which of the "other" candidates I will be voteing for as of yet. I do know I WILL NOT vote for joe moore, why you may ask, because I KNOW that joe hasn't done very much to help the people in the 49th ward, he has made a laughing stock of the city with the "laws" that he introduced saveing ducks. He talks out of both ends of his mouth. He has come out with e-mails talking about all the good he has done (not true) for the ward.

I know for a fact the ward can not take more years of joes leadership. The other candidates are an unknow, however I view theses men as "it can't be worse" then what we have had for about 16yrs, change is good. The 49th ward most assurdly needs a change.

It doesn't bother me to see these various businesses posting more than one political sign. I simply interpret the message those that post this way to be, not a lack of political backbone, but rather "Anyone But Moore"...and I'm glad to see that. If it takes two elections to get rid of JoMo...fine with me.

I see what you're saying but I see this in other parts of the city too. Some establishments have signs for one or two or more candidates. This is an interesting observation that I didn't give much thought to other than they just let them post a sign.
