* Ginderske Campaign Steals Advertising From Chicago Tribune Corp.

A few weeks ago one of Ginderske's bloggers ran the above photograph of one of my flyers in the 'Red Streak' news box and claimed I was stealing advertising from the Red Streak.

Problem is, the Chicago Sun-Times, 'Red Streak', hasn't published a newspaper in over a year. I was hoping someone would get the picture and remove the salt-stained, out-of business publication box. Instead I got accused of thief by Team Ginderske.

Now, from the looks of things, the Ginderske campaign has taken a page out of the 'Broken Heart' playbook? Problem is, team Ginderske chose to use a working, major corporation, in the Chicago Tribune, who relies on advertising dollars to survive. They allegedly put a campaign flyer INSIDE the 'Red Eye' newspaper? But at the Tribunes cost of advertising, I'm doubting he could afford that?

Ginderske *blatantly* had his flyers stuffed in the Chicago Tribune's 'Red Eye' as you can see from the above short video.

When the Chicago Tribune finds out about this, that's not going to look good on the resume come endorsement time.

Blognotes: Hat Tip goes out to Crimestopper 2 for spotting this sneeky way of advertising without allegedly paying the piper. (I've got a call into the Tribune checking this out.) But I did get one person at the Trib who said, "people put all sorts of things in those boxes we don't want in there."

My possible choices for Alderman are now down to two. Did anyone else get this Ginderske political flyer, stuffed inside the newspaper, that was in the Chicago Tribune Corp. 'Red Eye' newsbox today? Please let us know.

Ginderske is also in violation of Illinois Election Law. None of his signs or literature have the required paid for language. He should hire a lawyer to help him with his campaign.

Maybe they were printed by JoMo for Alderman as a smear tactic.

Yes, let's give a grassroots candidate a chance. I mean what do we want here? Pick priorities. No offense Craig, but some of the issues you are dismissing candidates over seem pretty petty. No one will ever be that word PERFECT. Just my 2 cents

No one will be perfect BUT everyone should play by the same rules. We should hold JoMo, Gordon, Ginderske, and Adams to playing by the established rules equally. As much as I dislike JoMo and feel that he has to go that doesn't mean the others get a free pass/get out jail card where the rules are concerned. I'm shocked, RPNeighbor, that you would suggest that they should. We all stop for the same stop signs and anyone who doesn't should get a ticket. Right?

RP Neighbor,

What button do you wear? Spokesperson for the Ginderske campaign when Westgard doesn't want to respond?

When I call Alderman Moore or other candidates on issues, you are right on board.

Let me make this clear. Everyone's fair game.

Until Ginderske himself tells us he paid (and shows proof) to have his political flyer for a event in the Chicago Tribune 'Red Eye', this will be a issue for me.

I personally work in this type of business.

Free publications 'live and die' by the advertising dollars. From the smallest of classifieds to the display ads for politicians trying to get in office.

Don Gordon has taken massive hits here on the Hell Hole, and still knows how it works.

His campaign is currently paying for ads in my publication. He also know the importance of the gay vote. And he's not getting a pass from me.

Guessing from no response from the blog-lawyer, I may be right?

Ginderske allegedly stole advertising space from the Chicago Tribune from my findings.

It's up to Chicago Tribune Corp. to take action, I'm just reporting it. And I reported it to them just so they were made aware of the fact. Kinda like what they do at a lot smaller level.

Until proven wrong - I stand by this story! And you know you don't have to read the stories if you don't like. Move on to the next, I posted plenty of news today. Or don't read it at all. I'm not forcing you. One reader lost isn't going to kill me.

Maybe you should find another option? He's beginning to look like a younger version of the one we already have.

I'm just a citizen. I have done a little volunteering but I'm no spokesperson for any campaign.

Craig- it really isn't true that I am "on board" with everything you say about the candidates. I often don't comment. I'm sorry if I offended you, but I am entitled to my opinion.

I think it's time for me to take a step back here.

Please, give me a break, You've got three public blogs. Two that deal with ward issues. You publicly have gone out to support Ginderske on your blog. I'd link them up, but you're comment got me riled.

One of your blogs you deal with is trash. When you read tomorrows blogpost and still do a "little volunteering" for Jim, I can tell you, you lost my respect as a reader of your public blogs. And credibility as a neighborhood spokesperson.

Jocelyn said...

Okay Craig (and I mean this) you are right that the flyers should NOT have been there without paying for the priviledge. I don't know how it happened -honestly. Hopefully Jim will respond soon.

Jocelyn said...

I hope I don't regret asking this but did you mean I have lost your respect already or I am going to lose it tomorrow if I still work for Ginderske after I read what you post tomorrow? Can you please clarify that for me? Thank you

I recall walking down the street on Sunday and seeing a "Broken Heart" flyer stuffed into someone's newspaper delivery bag. Either someone was picking up litter- which that flyer is- or one of your pals or YOU are stealing advertising. I have seen your flyers on switch boxes, light poles,(illegal according to Streets and Sanitation) and stacked next to the free publications in various cafes. As for your use of the old Red Streak boxes to distribute your propaganda, why the hellhole don't you call the SunTimes and tell them that you're "stealing advertising" from them. Their failed experiment in furthering the tabloid culture is an eyesore made uglier by your flyer.
Are you pissed because Gordon is the only one who has taken out an ad in your free publication? Is this journalistic outrage? Call it what it is! Bottom feeding for your bottom line. Are you going to put Dongo's ad next to one of those lascivious movie reviews in your free publication?
You're a bully of the worst sort. You hide behind a self fashioned legitimacy and use it to bludgeon and threaten those who don't bow down to you. Then you turn around and do the same crap for which you excoriate others. Be careful dear. It is a hard and long fall off of the high horse.

Craig and readers,

Although we here at Ginderske 2007 recognize and appreciate the service your blog provides to the ward by reporting on political activity, it would be more helpful to the voters if it provided them the full story.

First, I would like to make it clear that Ginderske 2007 did not solicit nor authorize the activity you described.

Second, Jim's role in this event is limited to that of an invited guest. Joseph Ukonga, the owner of DCI Furniture, asked Jim to speak to his customer base and took it upon himself to publicize it. We are very appreciative for the opportunity this small business owner has given us and think it is an important attempt to raise the level of discourse in the community.

I do not know who placed the flyers in the Red Eye, but I do know that it was not any of our volunteers or staff. We will continue to make it abundantly clear to all persons connected with this campaign that this behavior is unacceptable. I hope that the other campaigns do the same.

Craig, are you capable of taking a principled stand in support of one candidate or another, or in support of one position or another?

I'm sure that Don took an ad out in your paper only to reach a particular segment of the ward's population, and not because he loves you, but I can't help but notice that you have very suddenly pulled the dogs off him and set them on Ginderske instead.

Your attacks on this candidate are that are less about the welfare of the ward and more about pursuing extremely personal vendettas.

Signed,
Laura Louzader (formerly "Paradise")

I have more respect for Craig than ever. James Ginderske used to be a friend of his but that has not stopped Craig from letting us know about all of his sleazy dishonesty. We could give James Ginderske the benefit of the doubt but Craig knows him and Craig is not and we all trust Craig. If we didn't have complete and total trust in Craig then why would we be reading his blog?

And for silly twits like "runestone", I have a question for you. Why are you reading and posting on this blog? It looks to me like you know deep down that Craig is right and you are wrong. It looks to me like you are giving Craig the attention that he wants because you really know that he has unimpeachable credibility. I think there is something wrong with you.

So nice to see you've started to eat your own. Hmmm. My lips are smacking. Who's next.

Oh wait a minute. There will never be a candidate good enough, smart enough, skillful enough to navigate the shark filled waters here.

Craig, I was interested in who you would endorse, now I'm more interested in who you will tear to shreads next.

Joe Moore must be lapping this stuff up.

If the candidates, incumbant and otherwise, can't take a little heat from Broken Heart or any other neighborhood blog then they sure as hell won't be very effective in the role of alderman or in navigating city council or the mayor's office or all the city departments. Candidates should put on their big boy pants and respond to Craig on the blog or stay silent in cyberspace and recognize that taking heat goes with the territory. If candidates and their supporters can't take Craig then y'all have no business running. Wait til Joe starts attacking the competition. Craigy's little barbs and gotchas will seem like mildly annoying ladybugs.

This is Craig's blog and he can do whatever he wants on it. I have to hand it to him. Right or wrong, he sticks his neck out and he takes the heat when we smack him down and he keeps coming back and doing it again and again. Except for the brief misguided comment moderating and sometimes post removal, he largely lets us all have our say, and he responds. This is more than we can say for Moore. Do I agree with everything Craig does or says? Do I think he's sometimes been disruptive in community meetings? No and yes. However, Craig has given more voice to residents than our elected officials. He's kept us posted on crime, CAPs, and the secret DevCorp meetings. Hellhole may not be perfect but it's more info than we get elsewhere and a venue for all of us to tear back the curtain that politicians and bureaucrats regularly hide behind.

No, hellhole isn't constructive and positive. It's harsh and in your face. But we've had 16 years of standing around holding hands singing kumbaya which has led to -- Gateway, status quo on Morse, Howard even worse, gang warfare, and not one more restaurant here than in 1990. The rabble rousing is getting attention and even if it's only a small percentage responsible for change, I'll take it.

As for Craig taking a stand on any one candidate -- why does anyone care? Craig is showing us another side of all the candidates. Do your homework and make your own decision (but, good grief, look beyond hellhole in doing research). At the end of the day every vote NOT for Joe is a good vote.

mary_haskel said...

Well duh Toto. Of course none of the candidates are good enough. All of us loyal readers here at the Hellhole are here because we follow Craig. If Craig gives a candidate the nod then that is good enough for us but until he does those candidates better watch out.

Oh Mary...I almost slipped in the drool pool you left from slobbering praise on Craig. I read this blog and post because I live in this neighborhood. The very same for which sometimes Craig does some good.
I have known of Craig for a long time as a neighbor and a neighborhood character as well. You are right about one thing - he CRAVES attention. He gets that by stirring up the political cauldron once in a while. He exercises his right to free speech and extends that right to "twits" like me through the access of this blog.
There is something wrong with those who have blind faith dear Mary. Step away from the Kool-Aid! I'm pretty sure that went over your head but you can look it up.

i have remained silent on this blog for a while, sending craig items of interest, but i must speak. Westgard, may i slighty quote you, but you dont do anything about moore's sign in the public way' when spoken to about your large sign tied to your car on sheridan in front of your office. sounds like kindergarten banter, waah waah, but he id it first......... too bad 'scud' much like the ineffective missles from iraq, is doing your talking now....

I don't need to look up the term "Kool-Aid". I know what it is and I most certainly don't drink it. Kool-Aid is nothing but sugar and artificial flavors and colors. I want our new alderman to ban it from the stores in our neighborhood.
