Zero Tolerance on Crime In Rogers Park
Despite the best efforts of our 24th District Commander and officers we continue to have persistent and growing problems with gangs, drug dealing, and prostitution. These have a major affect on our quality of life.
* I will be unrelenting in my work to protect the interests of our residents and I’ll work closely with our Commander to address policing issues in our community. There will be zero tolerance for property owners or building managers that ignore, tolerate, or permit criminal activity in their buildings at the expense of our citizens’ safety. Further, I will work aggressively to improve the quality of policing by advocating for the resources our officers need to be effective.
* I will vigorously pursue a complete reassessment of how we do CAPS in the 49th ward. The Community Service Office of our ward will provide both financial and staff support in this reassessment effort, particularly using technology to improve communication between residents and the 24th District. In order to be successful, I will work in partnership with our 24th District Commander and his staff, and I will guarantee the full and complete cooperation and commitment of the resources available to me.
Don Gordon
Candidate - 49th Ward Alderman

Sounds great Mr. Gordon. He seems like nice guy. They all do in fact. Whenever I hear "I'm going to re-access this and re-access that, it reminds me of how Bush was going to re-access the terrorist threat, then oops 9-11. So I guess you think that Moore likes crime right? If he were the corrupt money grabber you suggest, wouldn't he have more to grab if crime were down. It seems illogical that someone with something to gain, as you suggest, would be moved to allow crime when that very crime keeps him from lining his pockets with say Lakeside or Gold coast money. But, ah logic and clear thinking, I guess one can only hope.

Next time just print a link to DonGo's website. It's all a bunch of bluster. He has no real record of actually doing anything except of course all of the "Don and I" exploits that Craig has listed.
I have visited the website by the way and I was duly UN-impressed. The candidate is a bit reactionary and lacks the vision and a plan for any real solution. Stick to tracking the crime and danger in RP. I don't believe that Mr. Fitness will make it any better or more "refreshing" to live here.
Ah money and politics, of course all that sucks. The minute you take office you must start raising money to keep it. I saw where the BH blog guys encouraged the other 3 candidates to send out more mailers, or tree killers if you like (clever, is someone hiring a writer?) to keep up with Moore's mailing. So it sucks and we all need money. Again I'm new around here, can you give me specific examples of Moore taking money from a big fish while hurting the small fish. Oh and give me something real and direct. The smoke alarms, selling of single cans of beer, c'mon give us something that shows a direct case of money over whats right for most.

I can't think of a better example than lying on behalf of his big contributor, notorious slumlord Jay Johnson, one of the worst slumlords in the area.
Since Toni has done a wonderful job of documenting campaign contributions to JoMo and cataloguing the crimes of Jay Johnson and other NOH slumowners who are in deep with the Mooron, I would go over to her blog and read through the archives. I won't repeat what she has spent so much labor doing. Her site is http://www.howardwatchers.blogspot.com.

Ha, ha, ha. The only way you will reduce crime is to dilute it with new people with higher incomes.
But then you'll whine about affordable housing and tear downs and police brutality and all the other whiny liberal crap.
No need to be sorry Ms. Hackett. It is not a problem to read Don's paper. I just think that he is pushing an agenda and history shows that his mouth writes checks that his actions cannot cash. Reprinting all of that bluster is just free advertising for your candidate which as I have said is Craig's prerogative on his blog. It's kind of sad that Mr. Gordon is allowing endorsement by a site that publishes pictures of poop, puke, and other bodily functions. Indeed I have posted positive things about the candidate-Jim Ginderske- who is better suited for the job. It is always in response to the yellow journalism and selective amnesia being touted as informing the public on this blog. Did YOUR candidate have your back and help secure legal assistance when you got the screws tightened by developers on Greenview? Nah. It's really refreshing to know that the 49th is no different from old time Chicago when it comes to "political bedfellows".
In the 15 or so years that I have known Don and been in contact with his family, tenants, community actions etc., I have seen a whole lot of nothing. He talks a great game. He is a nice yet benign guy who is adequate at picking buzzwords or hot button issues. I am simply unimpressed.
Congratulations on taking the bull by the horns in your tenants case. You are certainly doing a great deal of legwork for your candidate with the same passion. However, it is my opinion that he is talking loud and saying nothing.
