Developer money keeps flowing into the Alderman Moore's campaign fund, right down to the wire. Suburban builders Mosa & Sons, located at 401 Irmen Unit C in Addison Illinois, gave $3,000 to Alderman Moore on February 9th, 2007. Can the Mosa Brothers show records of hiring any 49th ward residents to help with their 49th ward construction jobs? Are they paying any 49th ward residents a 'living wage?'
They're sure paying Alderman Moore big bucks for something!

Given BH's lengthy listing of out-of-control crime incidents
(call out the BeatAlderman!!),
and today's addition of recent love gifts from Joe's favorite posse of enablers, it should be apparent that it's time for his departure. That said, perhaps it would be helpful to put aside all the bluster and ask ourselves one simple question: who has the best chance to beat JM in a runoff? Adams, Gordon? other?? I have already cast my vote for "other" as I know that Mr. BH has a self-contrived blind spot against names beginning with "G" and is fairly selective in his acknowledgement of the facts of this race from time to time. Who did in fact receive the highest rating from each of the public forums that chose to rank the candidates? Who has received accolades from a wide range of influential city folk for his performance on Monday's WTTW broadcast? And who has ideas that actually add up to a comprehensive plan for the 49th ward? On Monday, this voter saw two pit bulls go after our incumbent faker while the next alderman looked on.
*And in the interests of proving my charming muse the Alderman's Intern WRONG regarding charges of yellow journalism against BH, I would propose that he turn his focus to issues and the positions of the candidates (or lack thereof!)in the final days of decision-making, and that he NOT remove the comments of those he disagrees with. Then its democracy and not a personal monument to bitchiness, which I think would be more of a public service- if that indeed is the intention. I would credit anybody who can transcend themselves during this feisty stint of the campaign and avoid the hypocrisy of saying one thing and doing another like the politicians we profess to despise, else we all end up like the beloved proprietor of the Heartland Cafe- endlessly and arrogantly professing forward-thinking beliefs while supporting
the most entrenched and corrupt candidate and attacking his opponents as they carry the banner for truly people-centered causes- well, at least one of them. In the meantime, nearly his entire staff is supporting that "G" name guy.
Another case in point would be our Rogers Park Citizen of the Year whose helpfulness as an advocate Mr. Gordon might do well to question in light of his recent heavy-handed layoff of his entire building management staff- most of whom happen to be supporting another candidate...? Despite his self-presentation as the shiny, happy yuppie culture-bearer of the hood, it appears there is a much harsher and self-interested character lurking underneath. I won't bring any cartoons into the dialogue, but it does appear that team Gordon is very apt at choosing when and which mask to wear as occasion demands.
Quite frankly, I would prefer a glass of water from an honest man over a Metropolis Mocha from Citizen of the Year any day.
Cheers, P
that's a lot perfecto-
but do agree that in a runoff, no way in hell Gordon will beat Joe's machine or be able to resonate with more left-leaning voters (the easy majority in our ward)! given that in alignment w Adams, they both appear to be pro-BUSINESS! not pro-development which to me sounds like more pro-DEVELOPERS and doesn't bode well when they come off as the Republican democrats of the election- they are the ones scaring people off!!!!!!!!!!!! jeez wake up broken heart and look at some of these contradictions- a man on the "beat" doesn't sound very appealing to minorities when for god sake he terms things "Final Solutions" in his literature!? Adams and Gordon have not seemed technically versed on any of the issues at any of the forums & Ginderskee pulls his facts up pretty damn quick- read up gentlemen- you are falling behind- esp after the pbs showing Monday. definitely time for all the mut dogs to get behind somebody who is smart, wellm presented, gets attention of smart important people when he speaks for crying out loud. rdp
-neither Adams nor Gordon have any credibility at this point w minority voters- and seem clueless about how attacking systemic poverty helps the entire neighborhood and other interconnected issues. we need a plan- not a laundry list of past glories from the incumbent, or a the same of vague, not well fleshed out promises from the others
and if Don G wants any support on the housing front- he needs to dump his wacky and transparently self-serving ploy about not taking any money AFTER he gets in! come on Don!?
he also needs to stop picking on blue lights lit he has a better plan and read up on tax policy in regard to limitations of personal property taxes!
Interesting comments from 'newcomers' or at least two new screen names. Minorities don't like Adams or Gordon huh? Just what do you define as a minority anyway? I could claim that I'm a minority and I am. What about the gay/lesbian community are they not considered a 'minority' also?
Are single mothers with deadbeat dads not part of a distinct minority? Who's out 'championing' for them? And yes, then we have the other end of the age spectrum, the Seniors. Will Fagus and Moore be inside the nursing homes 'helping them vote'? Let's not forget those with criminal backgrounds who can't vote - or those who aren't legal - or those who weren't aggressively encouraged and educated to register. Aren't they all minorities?
Attacking systemic poverty? So by demanding education and properly managed buildings is an attack on poverty? Isn't it better to attack the perpetrators who gain financially from the less fortunate than to attack the platform of two candidates you're not politicking for? ? has every potentiality of becoming 'Little Joe' if not carefully guided by some common sense. As witnessed on this blog and others, some of the attacks against campaigners as well as the candidates (incumbent doesn't count) by supporters does not bode well with a lot of voters. Many wonder if this same type of crew would staff an office and inject us with their outrageous offerings of their own kind of smut. Yes, SMUT comes in many flavors not just in magazines and movies. Pray tell, none of the male ? posters have ever purchased or read a buddy's Playboy magazine? Pray tell none have ever watched 'Skin a Max' on dishnet or cable? Right!
As for removing comments - some of ? supporters blogs have comment moderation enabled. Isn't that a case of the pot calling the kettle a tad charred? One must be so politically polite one can't even use an old saying with some readers!
As for a run-off, anyone with a living brain cell would not vote for Joe. With a new alderman - there's the option of voting him out if things don't improve. We already know Joe's track record on improvement.
It's as erratic and chaotic as his zoning map. Just common sense and FYI many of the minorities are well aware of his phoniness they're afraid of him and his 'crew'.
Just because "left leaning" residents are the ones you hear the most from, doesn't mean they are the "easy majority" in this ward.
While most people in this ward are liberal, tolerant, and placid, that doesn't mean they buy into the 60s-leftist extreme welfare-statist viewpoint.
Walk around the area and talk to all the home and condo owners AND renters who live around here. These people are easy-going, generous, and tolerant, but their tolerance has been breached by the stratospheric crime rates and constant violence. They're dismayed by the loss of legitimate, healthy business and multiplication of junk liquor stores and other neighborhood drags. They want a safe, clean neighborhood, they also want more legitimate business and good development, and they want to be able to keep on affording the houses and condos they bought and paid for.
And they are not happy with what has happened to their neighborhood over the past twenty years. They are not happy with the influx of extremely troubled, violent people and the steep escalation in crime rates. They are not happy with our alderman's failure to deliver services while courting rich West Coast celebrities and society people.
Actually, Joe has done a large part of his replacement's dirty work by generating so much publicity for his inane initiatives. People around here never much noticed him before but they are looking very closely at him now. No opponant could possible have bought good publicity equal to the bad publicity Joe has generated for himself, and when he is unseated next week he will have himself to blame.
