* Adams Asks - Where's Alderman Moore?
Much of the same old stuff was said last night at the League of Woman's Voters/O.N.E. Forum - plus I had some technical difficulty last night with the recording - and some rules issues with the League of Woman's Voters group.
First, my memory card filled up with-in 2 minutes of recording (I forgot to delete the last debate) - Then the League of Woman's Voter's usher kept giving me the business for recording. Why? It seems at the 46th ward debate on January 31st, Alderman Shiller violated the rules of the debate by filming the action and posting small clips on her website.
That's a no-no. The LWV's didn't want that happening again. So, they were roaming the room, disrupting the people with video equipment.
What I did cover was a bombshell announcement. Chris Adams told the crowd that Alderman Moore had promised to hold hearings in the CTA., and when the date of the hearings had come and gone, no hearings were held.
Adams was wondering what most all the residents in the 49th ward have been asking for years. If Alderman Moore isn't doing what he says he's going to do - then what's Alderman Moore doing?
Where are the CTA hearings you promised Alderman Moore?
Blognotes: About 140 people attended last night's event. Many of the same folks who have been at the other three forums were there. At least 2/3 of the room is filled with the candidates supporters, who are already committed to one candidate or another.
Chi-Town Julie and News-Star Lorraine were on hand and will have written reports. 24/7 Howardwatcher Toni has her report up already.

Thanks for the 46th ward mention, Craig.
The League of Women Voters had to issue a press release to tell people what an unethical liar Helen Shiller is. The League would not put the release on their web site, but we found it on the Uptown Neighborhood Council's web site. They were a co-sponsor of the event.
THROW ALL THESE BUMS OUT OF OFFICE AND GET REAL PEOPLE TO REPRESENT YOU.
Thanks for this report Craig. So what was Joey's reply about why no hearings?
Hey Craig, don't get discouraged by the lack of attendance. Speaking for myself, I can't make the events but I have already decided who will receive my vote.
What I'm really worried about is the three opposition candidates splitting the vote and JoMo winning.
Holy crap! The League slaps Helen Shiller on the wrist for violating the rules of the 46th ward debate, and in response, she doesn't take the videos off her web site. SHE PUT MORE OF THEM UP.
Unreal.
I think Adams won the debate last night.
commonsense - don't worry about the split just yet. City Council votes will go to runoff elections if the incumbent doesn't get a majority. The way it works is the winner has to get 50% of the vote plus ONE VOTE. If that doesn't happen it goes to runoff: the number one and number two vote getter will go to a second election. If that happens a lot more voters are likely to pay attention and participate.
A lot of people inside and outside the 49th ward think this is exactly what is going to happen to Joe. They predict if it does, he'll be very vulnerable.
Let's hope they are right about that.
Correction:I should have said it'll go to run-off if no single candidate gets the 50% plus one vote. Doesn't apply only to the incumbent. Sorry.

Brought it back from what? It's DEAD, vacant and boarded up.
Great post, Margot!
... new community center going in
