* Name This Cat
I've seen it all. This morning, I'm walking south though my alley, when I see a tenant from the Rider building (1340 West Morse) leave the parking compound holding this cat by the neck. Right in front of me, this guy tosses the cat in the alley like a empty chip bag. Yes, the guy dumped the cat like it was garbage. He walked right past me snickering.
I was in no mood to ask the guy why he would do such a thing - I walked past him, pissed off to the gills and went hunting for the poor cat. Mind you, I'm not a huge cat fan. Well, the cat had climbed about 4 feet up a telephone pole and was clutching on for dear life. I snagged the little sucker off the pole, not before it clawed the living hell out of my arm.
Now to some health and safety issues. First off, I got the cat upstairs and tape worms were coming out of her rump at a alarming rate. Like in some weird sci-fi movie. Second, ears were packed with mites. Third, the cat shit all over me as I was holding her away from Cota. Fourth, Cota can't stand the little shit.
Here's where Dr. Kaz at Broadway Animal Hospital comes in. They cleaned the ears out. Gave the cat a couple of shots. Then the nasty tasting medicine down the hatch. You could tell by how her face wrinkled up as it was forced down her throat. Finally, trim the long oddly grown nails. This equals a grand total of $96 bucks. And a return appointment in three weeks. By then, the worms should stop crawling out her rump I'm told.
Okay, name this cat for me. All the names I can think of, I couldn't say around children.
Blognotes: Back to the heartless guy in the Rider Building. You could've just asked me if I wanted a cat, you didn't have to toss her in the alley like a piece of trash. I would've taken her off your hands in a split second. Come to think of it, I did - and I got the cat scratches to prove it.

Tuxedo....even though it's a girl. She looks like she's wearing one. I have 2 male cats, or I'd offer to help you out. Of course I wonder what they would think of a female friend.
No other name you can give it but "Lucky"
I second "Lucky." Craig, you are an angel to have rescued her like that. If you know who did this, I hope you report him to the police. Such animal cruelty makes me sick.
Tomorrow is the Ides of March..she could be Ida or Cleo a shortened version of Cleopatra
She's a beautiful cat, Craig. It was great of you to take her and have her treated, but you'll be rewarded with a wonderful cat.
I second Tuxedo.
Get yourself a tetanus shot for those scratches immediately, by the way, if you haven't had one for a while.
How about "no Moore Joe"?

Craig that's a wonderful thing you did I love cats, thanks for showing your good side. I've got two rescued kitties. How about Dora?
Updated: What great responses. Cota and the kitty are at a stand-off, but no fur has flown - yet. Give them a couple of days and they'll be best pals.
I've decided on a name. We're going to call her Lucky Tuxedo, or "Lucky Tux" for short.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Dr. Kaz is wonderful. I think $96 is a good price too for all that was done. You are the Sweetie Heart of Rogers Park.
Lucky Tux is a lucky girl to have you. I hope it works out.
We should collect gifts (toys) for the new baby.
Tell me where to send the gifts/toys!
Please, no gifts. Instead send Don Gordon a small contribution in the name of Lucky Tux.

Good for you ! If you can't take care of the little guy or just plain don’t want a stray cat living with you, take him to the Red Door Shelter. The Red Door is a no kill shelter in the 50-th. If your not already familiar with it and for your other readers goto http://www.reddoorshelter.org/
As for a name, I like Nomojoe. If it were a rat and not a cat, Jim would be a good name in that hypothetical case.
I have been seeing this cat outside my window all last fall & winter begging for food, and such...... finally, now someone will be able to take care of this cat!
thank you craig!
