BLOGNOTES: Mike Luckenbach a thirty-two year Rogers Park resident who lives north of Howard and 49th ward Alderman Moore had a email discussion about the lying ACORN flyers being handed out. As usual, the Alderman defends his distorted world in which he lives in. I wonder if he's teaching his son's Zachary and Nathan how to lie and cheat too?
Mike is in bold - Alderman Moore in italic.
Greetings All,
Here is an example of local politics in the best tradition of 'swift boating' and Karl Rove. How low can you go, Joe? The neighborhood is littered with these flyers and residents should demand that this trash be removed from our cars and streets immediately!

Mike,
The flyer you refer to was put out by the ACORN PAC, not my campaign, so I would suggest you call ACORN's PAC to complain, Nonetheless, I'm curious. Just what part of the flyer was a "smear?" Both "Paradise" and Hugh are avowed Gordon supporters. In fact, Paradise is going door-to-door for Don. Are you suggesting the quotes aren't accurate? John Kerry was smeared because the Swift Boat veterans lied and distorted Kerry's war record. Where are the lies and distortions in the flier ACORN flier? Please point them out. Sometimes the truth really hurts.
Joe Moore
Joe,
Get real! The flyer is as much yours as ACORN's. As to the smear, it's an obvious effort to distort Don Gordon's positions and his character and install fear, strictly based on out of context quotes from individuals in an ongoing blog discussion/debate. It is smear and fear mongering in, as I said earlier, the best tradition of the 'swift boaters' and Karl Rove style of politics. Were you remotely concerned with the truth you would have spoken out against this kind of 'tactic'. The real truth is, you don't want to discuss the issues and why, after 16 years in office, our community suffers seriously from lack of Aldermanic leadership regarding our LOCAL issues with a PLAN based on COMMUNITY input! That's what hurts and it hurts EVERYBODY in our community. Good luck in your future endevors.

Mike,
"Out of context quotes?" Please provide me the context. All I saw was hatred laced with a huge dose of bile. Show me something else. As to character, I'm certainly unaware of anyone working for me that spews such filth, and if they did, I'd kick them out of my campaign in a nanosecond. Gordon's silence is deafening.
Joe
Joe,
Perhaps you should read the entire posting for yourself. The flyer is dishonest at best and is a blatant effort to smear Don Gordon's character and distort his positions on the issues! The quotes have nothing to do with Gordon and/or his campaign. I've said all I intend to say about the matter other than it is very disappointing to think you actually defend this kind of stuff!

Lately I've noticed a VERY nasty turn in tone on this blog (and in other places also).
Enough with the pointless rhetoric on both sides.
How about this...for the next 10 days ONLY the issues, what the candidates have factually done, not done and plan to do pertaining to the issues affecting RP will be discussed?
Honestly, I'd like to see a clean campaign the rest of the way...no posting lawn signs unless they are asked for, no taking them down, no flyers of 1/2 truths and lies by omission, no taking credit for the work of others, etc, etc.
How 'bout it?
Dr. O said...> " I'd like to see a clean campaign the rest of the way"...
Now that would be Utopia.
From his response Moore sure seems pretty familiar with the contents of the "ACORN" flier.
From his response Moore still reacts with his childish, immature snottiness. In case he hasn't noticed, his teenage days are long gone.
A real diplomat can't wear his emotions on his sleeve. The defensiveness is loud and clear, Joe plays down and dirty.
When Alderman Moore parades his kids in his campaign propaganda mailers, they're fair game. Thanks for reading.
Just because Joe parades his kids in the mailer does NOT make them 'fair game'.
I hate it when parents drag extremely young children into their campaigns. Kids that age can't even form an opinion.
i guess it's ok then to drag your daddy thru the mud?
alls fair, right- be it a dead man or minors?
No, not in your pathetic little world.
either way it's not cool.
Once again, these bloggers keep saying the comments in the flyer were taken out of context. IN WHAT CONTEXT ARE THOSE COMMENTS OK!!!
There's no aplology for or disassociation from them. What is most amazing is that if a person reads the whole blog, it's way in context, no half truths, I'm afraid.
I appreciated the ACORN flier. I've been very unsettled by the whole election. Why are these people attacking Joe, a person who has been pushing and standing up for issues that are important inside the ward, yes! Roger's Park is a progressive, conscientious and idealistic ward and bringing the troops home, demanding a living wage and banning foie gras on the grounds that it is inhumane and unconscionable (the city council aggreed, after all) DO represent our values and the people of Roger's Park DO care about the broad issues and DO appreciate having a champion. Then where does this opposition come from? Why are people going after Joe. Then I SAW the blogs and the sentiment. I saw the contempt with my own eyes. I saw WHO is behind this campaign against Joe and at least it makes sense. To the blogger that wants a "clean campaign" please understand that it cleared up alot for me to see what's motivating people. What was printed were not lies but the exact words of people who hate Joe and humanity it seems.
I can't wait til this is over and Joe is still there reperesenting us, the ward is safe in all it's wonder from this attack of the hateful jealous and maybe even someday if goodness survives, the troops are home, people earn a living wage, animals are protected from inhumane treatment and Social Darwinism is ridiculed instead of our bravest champions and people aren't derided in their hour of grief.
Vanessa- How can you judge an entire campaign by a few bloggers? It amazes me how people can see things so differently. I see Craig as a tireless public servant. You see him as a hate-blogger.
Maybe we should try understanding each other more instead of slinging insults.
Since you can't seem to understand how the comments are taken out of context, I will explain. Hugh's comment was TOTALLY SARCASTIC and not serious. You did get that didn't you? Paradise is very passionate about issues related to housing. She sometimes takes a harder line than others, but she is not a callous uncaring person. She cares about quality housing and REAL solutions for poor people. She may not always be "PC" enough for you, but her heart is in the right place I believe.
The point is, do you actually KNOW any of us? I know most of these people personally from neighborhood meetings. Do you ever go to them? If you did, you might find we are nice people that are just fed up with our Alderman's approach. We aren't Republicans. We aren't haters. We are PEOPLE WHO CARE about where we live!
I know these people BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ANONYMOUS like many of these Joe Moore bloggers who hurl personal insults in hiding. I think we can see who the REAL hate bloggers are here.
But that is beside the point. Despite the way you are portraying it, we have alot of common ground. I too, look forward to this being over and hope Don wins because I think it's time for a fresh perspective.
Excuse me, Vanessa, but it takes a very deliberate misreading of my comments on Craig's blog to label me as a "Social Darwinist".
The "darwin award" comment was made by a blogger named jeffo.
I was very angry, yes. However, my comments in support of personal responsibility were no different than those of others on the same thread.
It is because I am absolutely NOT a "Social Darwinist", that I believe in contraception, small families for everyone, and having no more children than you can handle. It makes me FURIOUS that 6 defenseless kids died because of the carelessness of a slumlord, the politician-Joe Moore- who defended him, lied for him, and took campaign contributions from him, and, yes, the parents who did not do their job by their kids.
Vanessa, you little cretin, if I were a Republican and a "Social Darwinist", I would take the anti-contraception, anti-reproductive freedom line of the Republicans and their supporters from all the traditional patriarchal religions that preach against birth control.
Why do you think the Repugs are against birth control, dummy-dummy? Why do you think that all the old-line, patriarchal religions say things like "all sperm is sacred" and enjoin poor, struggling people to have oversized families, you idiot? Because they want lots of poor struggling kids who will have to enter the workforce at the youngest age possible. Because they want as many poor, struggling people to work for slave wages as they can get. Poor, desperate people with large families will work and live in any conditions for any wage, while people control over their own lives and reproduction can make more demands.
I stand by every single comment I made on that thread, and if you are going to quote me, make sure you quote every remark I made, not just those selected for effect, and do NOT atttribute to me remarks made by other posters.
Lastly, even though I support Gordon, I do not speak for him. His opinions are not necessarily mine. I am not on his payroll- I am a private sector employee in the financial industry. Don Gordon and his campaign do not tell me what to say or to post, and I do not let him, or you, or anyone else dictate my opinions and beliefs to me.
Unlike you and the rest of Joe's anonymous posters and slur-bloggers, I stand behind what I say, and don't attempt to hide. I take responsibility for my comments and beliefs.
