* Cosgrove Resigns

Exclusive from the Rogers Park News Blog Desk

I regret to inform you that I am no longer with the Office of 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore and have left to pursue new options.

In my absence landlord-tenant issues should be addressed to Anne Sullivan unless they are more related to crime issues, in which case they should be addressed to Alicia Lopez, or for development related issues, to Michael Land. Mr. Land will also be handling media related requests.

If you're not certain whom your request should go to I encourage you to contact Alderman Moore's City Service Office via telephone at 773/338-5796, or to use our general mailbox address of "ward49@cityofchicago.org".

It's been my extreme pleasure to work with you and with Alderman Moore these past nine years to help improve our community.

I thank you for both your support, and for helping to keep me on my toes.

Very truly yours,

Kevin Cosgrove

Good riddance! Of course, now you have to deal with that turncoat Sullivan.

I was about to say, Annie Sulli sure scored herself a nice job out of the deal.

Don Gordon violated election laws. Joe Moore did not. Now Gordon is filing a frivolous law suit.

Systematic voter intimidation and civil rights violations were exercised by the Don Gordon campaign on Election Day. Gordon, however, blames the Joe Moore campaign for an unclean election. While the Moore campaign (as all campaigns) may in the eyes of some, have engaged in objectionable electioneering practices, they were all well within the legal limits of the law. Don Gordon has accused Moore of violations that really only amount to a disagreement with Moore’s electioneering practices. Gordon has taken hypocrisy to new heights by going so far as to file for an election contest. He claims that the violations were so egregious that had it not been for them he would have won. (That’s just comical). I am all for defending voter’s rights, but I am not convinced of the allegations in this case. It is a completely unjustified and frivolous lawsuit that will only serve to show exactly why Don Gordon deserved to loose. That is, Gordon is actually the one who violated the law by intimidating minority voters on Election Day. That is not the kind of Alderman the 49th Ward wants and that is why we voted for Moore.

I don't think Annie Sullivan is the new chief of staff - just that she gets to cover housing court. Watch for Tom Westgard being appointed the new chief of staff.

Well, unfortunately, you can't have it both ways. If you're for defending voters rights then you should not have a problem with Gordon's stance. An investigation here is not a cherry-picking exercise, but one where both campaigns can equally question the votes. You claim without any evidence I've seen (please provide) that Gordon did racial intimidation whereas Gordon supporters have actually come up with documented instances of violations by the Moore camp.

One question that I've had for a while is why didn't Moore challenge the outcome of the general election when he was so close to getting the 50% needed at that time. Do you think he was afraid that a recount/investigation there would have actually hurt him? If Joe Moore is being defamed by legal proceedings, than the results can prove that.

The only people who are generally scared of the legal process are those with something to hide.

I saw Kevin the day before the election. We exchanged greetings and both spoke to how we were ready for the final tally, whichever way it went.

I saw him today outside the office, he looked tired and down in the dumps. Now we all have our moments of looking like we're at the end of our rope when we're not. I am not about to say that is where Kevin was. But I really felt my heart go out to him.

Kevin and I have had our disagreements in the past, but we have always managed to get past them. Whatever caused him to resign, I hope much brighter prospects are ahead and I wish him all the best!

I too wish Kevin the best.
He has worked very hard for this ward.

I agree that Kevin tried. There was a lot on his plate. He had to keep his personal opinions out, but he certainly didn't always agree with Joe-ski. Craig, I admire your restraint and candid comments on one point in the Gordon lawsuit, but find i<3 rp's comments rather pathetic given the evidence.
