Read about this monster in the news. He is a member of a white supremist "skin-head" group, and a stone remorseless killer. He killed a guard at the medical center where he was being treated.
This is the kind of guy that inspires me to continue my support of the death penalty, because it is the only way you can know for sure he won't be back out on the streets 5-20 years down the road.
People like this DON'T improve with age.

and the skin head? doesn't make me want the death penalty. makes me want to tear down the war machine, and feed and care for all the children, support families, and most of all, fund good science.
it is an outrage to me that in the 21st century we still have very few good treatments for mental illness, and little infrastructure to deliver them. but that is what i see when i look at that picture.

Been there- I wish that the police HAD killed this guy. He's piece of s... who would kill you in a heartbeat. Gay, straight, conservative, liberal,black,white,middle class, poor, rich, Jewish, Christian, his kind hate us all. It doesn't matter. Feeding all of the families, good science, tearing down this alleged war machine you speak of,treatment for the mentally ill all have nothing to do with this. The guy is a stone cold killer and the world would be better off if he were gone. Rehabilitation is not feasible with guys like him.

big daddy, if this guy had had good care as a kid, things might have been different. maybe he was raised by someone that was mentally ill. or a strict authoritarian who strove to make his kid "tough". many a monster comes about in that way. it takes some work to destroy a kid's humanity that completely.
i do not doubt that this person cannot be salvaged. but he might have been prevented.
and yes we have a war machine. even in peace time, counting all the money in all the budgets that go to war spending,, like nasa missions for the military, and local funding to support military bases, it is nearly half of all tax dollars. and so much of that just gets plain old ripped off. peace is a lot cheaper. and better for you.

Working as a US Marshall for close to 20yrs I have chased & captured many skinheads, I will tell you they are very dangerous, they are not afraid of any law enforement departments, most are not afraid to die!

Ryne isn't a U. S. Marshal. Ryne can't even spell U. S. Marshal. Picture yourself walking around in the U. S. Marshals office for twenty years. Every piece of paper, every uniform, every piece of art on the wall says U. S. Marshals Service. U. S. Marshals aren't illiterate dummies who can't spell the name of their own department, they're the cream of the crop, highly educated, detail-oriented people who catch fugitives that leave clues by making little mistakes.
It's a great little fantasy though. Maybe you can get together with Craig and make a movie.

Loeb and his cohorts were the pampered sons of money and privilege, and Loeb related how he and his fiancee used to quote poetry to each other.
Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Maust, and scores of other vile killers come from diverse backgrounds, that were mostly "normal", with loving parents that did their best. Their homes perhaps weren't "perfect", but whose is?
Some people are just "bad seed". Why did these people become psychopaths when their siblings did just fine?

I disagree with north coast. Bundy, Manson and countless others came from desperate backgrounds. I do believe that some are, despite "normal" upbringing, bad seeds. We don't know this guys background, only his actions.

I agree there are some evil people out there that are hard pressed to win anyone's sympathy. I recently read a book called "Defending the Damned," which I recommend as a good and interesting read. In it, Kavin Davis covers the Chicago Public Defenders Office for a year- he shadows the reviled defense attorneys.
It was very interesting and local also.
