* Rogers Park Building Insurance
Mirro Construction
1425 W. Fullerton Av
Chicago, IL 60614
Dear Mr. Mirro,
You have 30 days from the date of this notice to abate the hazardous conditions at the 7340-62 North Hoyne. If the Commissioner determines after 30 days that the building has not been repaired, demolished or all accessible windows, doors, and any other openings boarded and secured and kept secured, and if all garbage, debris and other hazardous, noxious, or unhealthy materials are not removed from in and around the building, a Notice of Determination will be sent to the owner(s) of record informing them that that conditions have not been abated and that the City of Chicago will take action to eliminate the hazard.
THIS ACTION COULD INCLUDE DEMOLISHING THE BUILDING. You are further notified that should the City be required to take the necessary action to eliminate the hazards caused by this building, the owner(s) of record will be liable for all costs incurred by the City.
BLOGNOTES: Now that's what should've happened months ago if the building inspection system really worked. But somehow this Mirro property at 7340-62 North Hoyne slipped through the cracks. Has the ZULAC committee closed it's eye's to this eyesore? The Alderman's office has.
Ever wonder why. It's secretly called Developer's Insurance. But we all know it as a easier to swallow term called a Campaign Contribution. Here are Mirro's Insurance premiums, or better known as payments to Joe Moore Building Insurance Company.

This insurance policy must be designed to keep the City of Chicago building inspectors away. So far, it's working perfectly.

Clean Construction Site - Checklist
Do you have a continuous chain link fence at least 6 feet high?
Do you have opaque mesh fabric affixed to the fence free from advertisements?
Do you have sufficient sealed garbage containers stored behind the fence?
Have you enclosed all floor areas with fabric meshing free from advertisements?
Have you taken appropriate measures to contain dust and debris?
Are construction materials being stored neatly and securely?
Are work vehicles monitored to keep all dirt and debris off the public way?
Is waste being removed on at least a daily basis?
Are you recycling? Jobs permitted between Jan 1, 2006 and Jan 1, 2007 must recycle 25% (by weight) of recyclable construction debris.
Jobs permitted after Jan 1, 2007 must recycle 50% (by weight)
$5,000.00 1/16/2007 to Richard M Daley Campaign Committee
They live in the BIG house on Pratt across from the golf course. The house is the one that decorates like crazy on Halloween and is on the news. I believe they are in Bernie Stone's ward and I could swear they had Stone signs up during the election. The two sons are the guys who tackled the escaped rapist last summer when Craig got that killer picture. A guy who worked at the Dominick's on Ridge told me that employees were asking for donations for cancer at the registers and Mr. Mirro put a $100 bill in his jar. Generous.
uh oh
wait till John Daley hears Joe is selling insurance!
do you have some evidence that this particular developer is treated any differently than those that did not make campaign contributions? do you have some evidence that city inspections and oversight is any different in the 49th than in other wards? because that is what you would need to actually make the point that you are trying to infer. see, that's how a real journalist would do it. instead of just stringing a bunch of factoids together, and hoping that it looks bad. that is called innuendo. maybe you should look that.
been there,
It's not innuendo, it's a straight-up accusation.
This is a blog. If you want professional journalism, go to chicagotribune.com.
> that's how a real journalist would do it
go read the NY Times
this isn't journalism, this is a NEIGHBORHOOD BLOG, you idiot
this isn't a court of law, our threshold of reality is a lot lower than you would prefer, evidently
you would prefer an era when campaign contributions were secret and asking questions or talking about the connections between campaign finance and the policies of a local politician were considered unseemly, impolite
well, those days are OVER
we find a problem landlord, we find a series of campaign contributions: these are OUR facts
start your own blog with your own version of the FACTS, defend your money-grubbing hacks all you want
well, the other day when craig was interfering with the execution of joe's duties as an officer of the city of chicago by pretending that he WAS a journalist, the craigheads insisted that he was within his bounds.
so, either he is a truthseeker, rooting out pertinent facts, or he is just another empty cannon, booming for love of his own voice.
sounds like you vote of unaccountable to the facts, and to feeding his won ego.
craig,
you should attend ALL Moore's get-out-of-the-office stunts with your camera
see if he has any answers to your questions yet
you're a constituent
Been there...
I made that transcript I mentioned the other day. I wasn't going to bother posting it, because it seemed like other commenters had made the point adequately. Didn't want to bore "Broken Heart" readers. But in light of your comments, I'm tempted. Your guy didn't come out looking so good.
"Craigheads". That's pretty good. I can see it on a hat.
It's always a bit amusing when commenters on this blog haul out the professional/non-professional journalism dichotomy. Given that journalism licenses aren't passed out by the U.S. government. (Yet.)
Comments about quality are fair game, but this is something different than discussions of professional status. Typically these commenters conflate the two.
Please note that Craig isn't in the habit of deleting your comments, even when they might potentially embarrass him personally. It seems he only deletes trolls and specific threats to individuals. I'd say that is a pretty admirable committment to freedom of ideas.
As for the venerable Tribune, NYT et al...well, they've had their fact checking scandals lately, haven't they? The quality of content is routinely uneven in major media outlets.
Major institutions are important. On the other hand, it's dangerous to confuse quality with brand equity.
if craig is going to annoint himself the child of hunter thompson, or whatever the voices in his head are telling him, then he should adhere to SOME standards of journalistic quality. like telling the truth, for instance. if he is just a constituent with a video camera, he should adhere to some standards of decency and manners. like wiping the drool from his chin, perhaps.
he is lucky to have the audience that he does. someday they will take away the sharp objects, and his camera. hopefully before he helps a complete moron take over as alderman of this ward.
