* Mural Project Excites Bares

Anyone can put lipstick on a pig - but it's still going to be a pig. That's exactly what DevCorp North did with the Morse Avenue EL stop. The big hoopla regarding the Mural has turned out to be nothing more than painting over a rotted piece of wood. Or in this case, crumbling concrete.

Still, when you listen to Kim Bares, she'll praise this 'glued-on creation' as if it were one of seven great wonders of the world. The skill of telling a bold faced lie in public must be one of the qualities DevCorp North looks for in a executive director.

After two major drug busts in two years and no end in site for closing the current crop of new drug salesmen - How is this mural going to stop the open air drug market?

Two years ago DevCorp North failed in it's $25,000, three month, holistic, private security service. Last year DevCorp North started installing video cameras. Neither worked - yet both cost the tax payers a ton of money, padding Kim Bares ever expanding bank-account. And no one's any safer today.

How is this mural going to make Morse Avenue any safer, if those two programs didn't?

So, listen to Kim. She'll show and tell you just how excited she about the economic development this mural will provide. Personally, I'm not buying it. Are you?

Why Even Bother? No One Cares.

On the previous story, I said about 30 people attended. I was off. I counted 22 after re-reviewing the tape.

I counted 18 that were either associated with DevCorp North, Joe Moore or the Public Art Program itself.

Sad job of promotion. Just real sad.

If you don't think this was depressing, all you have to do is look at string-puppet Kevin O'Neil's expression. Would someone pull his puppet strings and give him some life?

DevCorp has video cameras?

Where?

I'd like to see that footage.

Sorry to ask a stupid question but . . . which one is Kevin O'Neil? I don't see him in this video yet I thought I knew what he looked like. Thanks.

The time marker counts down - when you get to the 50 second mark, you'll see a dopey looking guy with glasses and mustache, puke green shirt, arms crossed, looking super bored. As if Joe forced him to be there.

That's O'Neil.

craig, joe is happy to see you, too, but he crossed his arms

None of the people at this Mural Presentation look happy and i am wondering why?
Is there any reason why they chose not to unveil the mural around 4:00PM because that is really when Morse Avenue is alive with activity.
Oh well....so it goes

The people look unhappy because most them had to be there , our aldermen & Dev Corp wanted a crowd that would be on their side!

Your right Craig the "string- puppet" does look dopey! Do you think joey dressed little kevin for his public outing!

Was kevin standing on his shine box?

i dont like this entry,

the el bridge is old and crumbling but its not a pig,

and it does look better after the paint job,
does this automatically mean the neighorhood is safe?
no, but it doesnt hurt
to invest in a project that makes things look better,

i also would like to know why
you are criticizing the betterment of morse
this is a cta issue,
and many stations are still crumbling it will take years to fix them all,

i know im a broken record,
and you are going to get really sick of me

BUT what about the kitty litter
gravel of crap pile in front of my quiet place?

i think i must be hallucinating
because no one responds to this,
i guess its either something that is acceptable or you guys are blind or dont care,

if you so badly want to show up ald. moore why not point out actual faults?
like his failure and the failure of everyone on this blog to acknowledge the existence of a large spread out pile of gravel on the sidewalk in front of my quiet place?

that is something that could easily be fixed by making the SSA people earn their money,
or is there no more SSA?

thanks
