* Planters Outside Alderman's Office look Terrible

Dearest Craig,

Attached you will find three pictures of the planters outside Alderman Moore’s ward services office. Remember all those posts to Hellhole from Barbara and Nathan (surely you can find their comments and provide a link here) and their talk about working to improve green spaces in RP? They seemed so sincere and committed. Well, none of them were seen on 6/16 volunteering for the Rogers Park Garden Group and Loyola Park Keepers Community Garden project. There was a report that the Alderman spent the day in a tent down by the Painting of the Wall. Perhaps he’s just not fit enough to make the short walk up to Circle Park. Or maybe he doesn’t know where it is. Someone said that he donated $50 to the project. I guess that was nice of him though you’d think that he could have tossed in a bit more from his campaign slush fund given that he’s paid Nathan way more to intern for him. I guess family, even when they live in Evanston, comes first.

As you can see, the planters outside his office look terrible, virtually neglected and overgrown with weeds and trash. Pretty much sums up the service he gives all of us in RP. The state of the planters outside his office are a pretty accurate indicator of his attention to the ward in general. Weeds, trash, goonings – whatever it is, he apparently doesn’t care so much even when it’s right in front of his office. He does like to party though as he was seen at the Taste Bastille Day celebration last night. Did he and Barbara pay $20 each to attend or were they given a free pass on the donation?

Signed,

Upset Over the Alderman's Neglect to His Own Planters

BLOGNOTES: Where's Joe? - Example #259. I planted my flowers in the Morse Avenue Planters at the same time as Joe planted his. I've had some serious set-backs.

* People throwing garbage on my plants.

* People pulling my flowers out of the planters boxes and tossing them on the ground for fun.

* Drug dealers hiding their crack stash in the planters.

* And someone who likes to piss in my planters. Yet, I've maintained them enough where they still look like flowers. I don't know about you, but I find that amazing.

Mind you, I did this with-out any assistance from DevCorp North either. See, they get paid to do this. I just volunteered.

So, where's Joe Moore? What's Joe Moore doing? Well, all you have to do is just look at the photos. He's doing nothing but letting the weeds grow right under his nose.

Wow...Joey's people must read this blog very regularly. I just walked by Joey's office (about 10:15) and there was a guy weeding the planters in question and fixing the pavers!
Maybe instead of emailing complaints and questions to Joey's office we should just post them here. They would get attended to faster!

I drove by at about 12:00 noon and there where 5 people weeding and cleaning up. I would say they were doing a good job too. Congrats to those folks.
I say that's a good thing.
I say it's a shame that it takes the Alderman to be called out to take care of these things.

Craig, I'm going to e-mail you some beautiful planters I saw in Andersonville yesterday. They were by the bank at the corner of Clark and Foster. At 9:30 in the morning a nice young lady was out watering and tending to them. I praised her efforts and mentioned that I wish I could see the same in Rogers Park.
