* CeaseFire Meeting Today

There will be a CeaseFire Coalition meeting today at 11am at Living Water Church at 6808 North Ashland Avenue. Come hear updates about what CeaseFire is doing this summer with police relationships.

BLOGNOTES: I believe Ceasefire has some explaining to do. They've dropped the ball, by missing two Circle Prayers, for the last couple of shootings that have occurred by Island Groove Cafe.

They've had a unsupervised office at 1409 West Morse.

They have not replaced Vernandez Jones. Or at least to the best of my knowledge they haven't. So, we're lacking someone in the leadership roll right now at CeaseFire/Rogers Park. I've sent my letter of recommendation for a replacement. I got no response so far.

And then, yesterday, the Ceasefire program had the unmitigated gall to protest with Monday night's west side rioters.

While the official details have yet to be fully sorted out - Ceasfire went against the Chicago Police Department with-in the first 24 hours. A department they are to work with - not against.

And I believe, this is also against the offical protocol of the program.

And to hold a rally or whatever they want to call it, calling the police "murderers" before a full investigation is done, well that is pure foolishness. And dangerous to the entire city. And it undermines the very nature of the program. Like I said, CeaseFire has some explaining to do.

From Second City Cop:....>"We also verified by various means that the dead offender was a self admitted unknown vice lord. One of the arrestees is a traveling vice lord and two others are conservative vice lords. Among the one dead and four arrested, they account for something like 100 arrests, mostly felonies for UUW and drug possession"

And no, I don't know what UUW means.

Maybe commenters Blue or Big Daddy can help with this one?

Who pays cease fire to attend these events?
How much are they paid?
How do they choose a side in a situation like this?

Yes it is sad a life was lost.
Even sadder that there was a rush to judge.
Facts lets see the facts.
Hate to see a scene from the LA riots play out in our city based on rumors and hype to sell some newspapers and prime time ad slots based on ratings.

A good place to start would be the area around Roosevelt and Mozart.
