* 49th Ward Democrats Continue Showing Re-Runs

Is there some subliminal message in this 'Happy Feet' movie that dumbs down the residents to think Joe Moore and Dave Fagus actually care about them?

Isn't there another movie in the vault to show the residents of the 49th ward other than Happy Feet? Or maybe they just forgot to return this movie to Blockbuster? Note to the 49th ward democratic party. Like you two, this movie is getting old and worn out. Maybe it's time for a change?

BLOGNOTES: If you were in control of the movie pick, what would you feature? and why?

Okay, I'll start. The movie I'd show is Miracle on Ice. In fact, this is the movie that I used to motivate Patrick in his quest of a national championship and world championship aspirations. We'd watch this movie as we traveled to each event in the RV.

To Kill a Mockingbird with Gregory Peck is my top pick. Second would be the original Lord of the Flies. Both are powerful, great drama films with important messages for children. I recall seeing these when I was a kid. my brothers and I sat spellbound. Unfortunately, today, the kind of entertainment ours and most children are accustomed to seeing requires the movie to be in color with lots more action and special effects.

Well it's a Presidential year so I'll choose The American President. The ideal portrayal of a president I think or any effective politician.

A little off topic -- I saw Moore outside of the Starbucks on Columbia and Sheridan yesterday morning. He had a table set up with brochures, and a sign indicated that it was his "satellite office" He was talking to three people. Anyone knows what gives?

Joe's public approval rating is in the tank. He needs to show his constitutes that he's still alive.

This could be a long list - Yes Michael To Kill A Mockingbird is awesome and both one of my favorite films as well as books.
I would include Second Hand Lion, The Mighty, White Fang, Dances With Wolves(some parts not for young children) , The Titans,
THE CHILDREN OF HEAVEN( an Indian film with sub titles but after a bit all you need to watch are the actions, and the faces of the kids).
Hooch! with Tom Hanks - so funny!
Big ( again Tom Hanks)
Apollo 13 " " ( sorry I am a Tom Hanks freak.......The Emerald Forest.....really interesting about a boy that goes missing in South AMerica Rain Forest while his father leads engineering crew that is destroying the rainforest...well I may come back later and add more but I guess David Fagus has only one movie in his treasure chest.....sad to see how limited some people really are.

If I was showing the movies, I wouldn't show a lot of the newer dreck that's already passed through the theaters.

One film I'd show would be "My Darling Clemmentine" a great western starring Henry Fonda.

Happy Feet has not been shown in Touhy park. It has been rained out twice.

They (David F.) paid for the rights. To show a different movie, they would have to buy the rights to another movie.

"Animal House" or "Behind the Green Door" would be interesting.

Eeeew! Mannis that's about the lowest you can go. For such an upstanding righwing republican you should be ashamed of yourself.

deafguy do you mean David Fagus paid for the rights to show the film out of his own pocket, like to he assign the credit to his own personal credit card or write a check from his own personal bank account or do you mean he paid for it with funds received by his office?
Tsk Tsk
Maybe the rain effect is the way of the higher power saying this was a poor choice.

I just got this vague report in from last night's movie experience.....> "The 49th Ward showing of "Happy Feet" is starting off with a degree of organization endemic to the 49th ward Democratic Party.

I guess Todd Stroger's relatives can't even start a movie on time and under budget.

The truck with the equipment arrived 45 minutes after the scheduled start time. Then gusts of wind knocked the inflatable giant screen over five times."

Well, there you have it folks.

At least no one got stabbed at Touhy Park during the movie.

Thankful for that.
