Tough-guy Kirk Wilborn, 28, of the 6400 block of North Glenwood Avenue in Rogers Park was arrested Friday on a first-degree murder charge after an autopsy revealed the boy, Kirk, died of head injuries, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police responded to a call regarding an unresponsive infant about 10 a.m. Thursday at Wilborn's home. The baby was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Chicago Police Officer Marcel Bright said.

Do you know if Kirk Wilborn has a history of violence?
The worst thing about us humans is that we don't have the built-in, instinctual controls on our breeding that most wild animals do. We also don't have the instinctual maternal, or, in some cases, paternal behavoirs many wild species have- parenthood is something we must learn.
What a tragedy a person like this can even breed to begin with, and do it almost without limitation.
The news report did not indicate whether he was married to the baby's mother or not. Not that it would have made a difference, because abuse is abuse.
Reminds me of a cousin of mine who had a baby out-of-wedlock with a loser over 30 years ago. She left her son alone with him and a relative of his one evening. The baby was found dead later, his chest having been crushed in. The boyfriend claimed the baby fell out of the crib. Even if he had, there's no way the baby would have sustained massive injuries like that.
There was no doubt among my family members that my cousin's worthless paramour had caused the death. However, for reasons unknown to all to this very day, my cousin did not press for an investigation and had the guy thrown under the jail.
This a tragedy almost to horrific to respond.......but it reminds me of an incident that occured about 17 years ago. I read in the paper a baby had been removed from an apartment in the block where I live. My best friend was the owner and manager of the apartment building but she said, oh no way could that be Jane and her baby but low and behold it was. It turns out "Jane" had severe rhumetoid arthritis. The baby's daddy had stepped out for a few days cause he was stressed out.
My friend tried to help her tennant. My friends sister, an attorney, went to court with the tennant to try and help.
The lawyer sister even volunteered to take custody of the baby until some supports could be put in place.
Interestingly enough the court didn't even want my friends lawyer sister to speak.
It appeared they already had someone to take custody of the infant.

You would think the court would look kindly on the lawyer neighbor. A way to keep Mom and baby together.

Anywho ----the reason for my sharing this is be friendly with your neighbors. Watch what is going on. Sometimes people are under so much stress as well as so isolated that there are no stops in place and the result is horrific!!!!!!! When you see young parents talk with them about their baby. Offer to babysit when they need to run to the store for a quick minute!
Offer to watch baby so mom and dad can just eat dinner in the house together and talk for an hour!
Invite mom and dad over for dinner.
Help young parents learn how to be parents. If you are young parents yourself be sure you have a group you can "chill" with while you watch your babies grow. Listen to other parents and find new ways to solve old problems! Whatever you do don't be afraid to ask for help or to offer help if you see someone who might need it!
