Apparently some funding issues have now been straightened out (the money for the $3.5M project is being split between federal and city).
The committee met to discuss some cost-saving measures as the price of materials has arisen a bit in the last couple years. (The streetscaping was originally discussed as being completed in Fall '05)
Now, CDOT has just sent plans to the state for their review, which will take a couple months, and then the project goes out to bid.
There will be a community meeting to discuss the upcoming streetscaping soon - I believe in the next couple months."

Without blogs like this these types of things would just slip into the background. Thanks for keeping things going, Craig. We all need to be informed about what happens here and what doesn't happen.
Since what remained in the Howard streetscape fund was given to the Morse streetscape fund.....
Construction costs, zoning issues, always the matters of government. Look at the Field House.
If government was the real world, they'd either be claiming bankruptcy and/or be fired. And this is really me, Toni, on Saturday.
what is really interesting is that the project is being sent to the State for approval, AND THEN there is a community meeting. While I am not sure the types of approvals that the author of this post is talking about, it sure does sound like the community input meeting will be completely pointless.
