* Suffredin Seeks New Office

Breaking Political News from the 'Broken Heart' of Rogers Park:

Although nothing is listed on his website, 13th district Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin has decided to run for Cook County States Attorney now that Dick Devine has announced his retirement.

Joining on as Suffredin's powerhouse team are - Anthony Young, Thomas Moore, Debra Shore and the biggest name of all, Abner Mikva.

Although he claims to be a independent, Suffredin has been growing political tentacles to the corrupt Stroger/Fagus Machine.

Suffredin is a partner in a law firm named Shefsky & Froelish. He also is a member of the political satellite office at 1409 West Morse Avenue. A office you will never find him in.

Suffredin was elected to the County Board in November 2002 when he beat 49th ward Republican Committeemen Robert Shearer Jr. Suffredin had 13,060 votes to Shearers' 2568 votes. (83% to 17%) Suffredin was re-elected in 2006, as he ran unopposed and collected 14,206 votes.

BLOGNOTES: A county commissioner can't even list his other job when donating to Joe Moore. Is he a part-time commissioner or what?

Of course Comm. Suffredin is not the man for the job of State's Attorney of Cook County. Not unless you want a candidate who has been a lobbyist for the tobacco industry, a lobbyist for the gaming industry, and a lobbyist for the bar association as your next State's Attorney. Since I wouldn't trust Suffredin as far as a dead man can spit, my vote on February 5 will go elesewhere, most likely to Ald. Howard Brookins, Jr. (21st), someone who could stand up to Mayor Daley and the other powers-that-be.
