* Purse Snatching @ Jarvis and Greenview

Tonight at 7:20 p.m., several 911 calls were made when a woman was screaming because her purse got snatched in the upscale Jarvis Square retail and nightlife district at Jarvis and Greenview. The purse snatchers were described as two (2) 16 to 19 year old black teens. One was wearing a red t-shirt and the other one was wearing a black sweater. They were last seen heading south on Greenview - then east on Sherwin. Nothing further at this time.

purse-snatching, i would think, would not net people very much anymore, what with credit/debit cards being canceled very quickly, and people not carrying very much cash. but i guess that hasn't occurred to them yet. guess they're going for that cell phone, woohoo. gotta get that cheap thrill of a few bucks cash, if even that. i know that if someone stole my purse they wouldn't get much out of the deal.

Oh c'mon Craig! "Upscale"?....LMAO! Please. I guess a coffee shop, a decent restaurant and an irish pub all in a row would be considered upscale 'round these parts.

I was at the coffee shop...the boys were actually 12 or 13. They sat in the shop for a good hour before they grabbed the purse and ran. I think that everyone should keep their bags on their laps or looped around a chair. You never know.

There has been a spike in incidents around Jarvis and Greenview over the last week. Cars being broken into, and some more destructive damage as well.

This block has been quiet for awhile, so this is all kinda new again.

Don't want to scare anyone away at all...it's good to see people out before winter hits. Just be aware and look out for one another.

All purse snatchers want to do is grab and run. They are not about confrontation. If you put up any kind of commotion, screaming, throwing punches, etc., they are outta there.

Having said that, it's not worth it to carry a purse. I don't know why some women still do.
