From the comments section...> "Male/black was shot (2) times in front of the Jarvis Red Line at around 3:30 am today! Victim refused to cooperate with the police!"
Lots of activity in the last week. On Thurs., the Tactical unit busted (for drugs?) a SUV full of guys (looked like young men)on Ashland south of Touhy. On Fri. starting late afternoon lots of squad cars going up and down Ashland, lights flashing, no sirens.
I think there is some drug dealing going on Estes between Greenview and Paulina but can't prove it (yet). Maybe Craig is scaring them away from Morse?
It's sad. In 17 yrs. I've been here the crime seems same as when Guardian Angels were escorting folks from Morse el stop back in '91 though admittedly Loyola Park is better today than back then. We've had Ceasefire and any number of non-profits, CAPS, new police commander (who seems very on top of things), and even Craig and his important reporting on the dealing, but still we have the violent crime, drug dealing, gangs, and theft and muggings. Certain spots are better today but other spots are worse. And as I type this, in the background I hear the sound of sirens. Let's hope that addition of Morse Theater next spring and other businesses will improve Morse. And let's hope the problem doesn't get shifted to other streets.
Good news is that some crime will be down for the next 100+ days since the cable guy has been tossed in the slammer (guy who stole cable tv for people and anything else that wasn't nailed down). Wonder what he did with that pretty bike he was seen riding before his court date. Anyone missing a bike?
