* Joe Moore's Sheeple (The Rubber Stamp Crew)

Today the Tribune exposes those people who sit on the Alderman's sham zoning committees. The story uncovers a tale of personal connections, realtor's, political contributors and sheeple who work on the Alderman's political campaign's and neighborhood up-zoning.

Or as the Tribune puts it, "residents across the city complain that they don't have access to their alderman's select panel, or that they're frustrated when they go to community meetings only to find that real estate interests dominate the debate."

Here's our 49th Ward Rubber Stamp Crew.

Kevin O’Neil (Chair)
Jim Ginderske
Charese Jordan
Marilyn Pagan
David Fagus
Marty Max
Michael James
Dorothy Gregory
Rich Aronson

When you see any of these neighborhood whores, tell them "thanks," for ruining the 'hood' for future generations. Read the full report on Aldermanic prostitution. Community input an illusion.

Blognotes: As for Joe's promise to keep the community updated with zoning minutes on his website. Well, that promise got broken too. There has not been any updates since September 2007.

just surprised as can be to see the tribune pretending that development is evil. so out of character for them.
seriously, it is pretty disingenuous to blather on about this as though the whole thing is cut and dried. it isn't now, it never has been, it never will be. zoning law is not the same as criminal law. set it in stone, and your city dies. the community certainly is part of the equation. but it is not the whole answer. property owners have rights. there needs to be a balance.

But the idea of city planning is just that...planning. because Chicago was planned it's EASY to get around the city with the grid system; we have the open lakefront; areas for retail, industrial, residential, etc.
Some lakefront cities, like Buffalo, have NO visitor or residential access to the lake or river. other cities have industrial areas right up against residential. it sucks!
the aldermen (many of whom probably have NO policy or planning education or training) and the city planners should be working together to ensure the quality of life for EVERYONE remains high. the adlermen can get hot about what the developers and resident want and the planners are the saucers to cool the heated passions of the developers and residents. hopefully the planners would remain unbiased by bribes from developers and consider the bigger picture of city planning, and NOT just what the developer with the big bribe wants to do.

if the city was doing the building, it would be fine for the planning department to be in charge. in the meantime, we remain capitalists here. developers are investing in this city. without it we rust. i see no real evidence of anything running amok here. growth causes displacement, even when you are talking about digging up cornfields.

The recent rebuild of the facade on the 6800 N blk of Clark, just south of the Rogers Park Car Wash was done very nicely. The revamp was done in a timeless way that looks as if it could have been there for many years. It would be great to see this standard repeated in the area. Koo-dos to whoever did this!
